Jesus is Light

Jesus is Light. Not a metaphysical or mystical light found in pagan tradition and Wiccan practices. No, Jesus Christ is the "Light of the World." When we were still yet sinners, we were captives to the kingdom of darkness. The shadow of our sin and satan's oppression was upon us. We could not shake free of the darkness because of the deed done in Eden and our own wicked decisions. But then the most radiant and redeeming thing happen; Jesus Christ came into the world and His Light pierced the darkness. Jesus said, "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (John 9:5). Jesus is still in the world, though He rose and ascended to the Right hand of his father. He is in this world through us! The light of Christ burns brightly in His believers!

The darkness wants to dominate our lives. It seeks to make us captives once more by feeding us lies. The devil displeased with being robbed of his former prisoners seeks to convince us that the shadow of death is to be feared. Our minds are assaulted by the fears of everlasting darkness and never waking from the blackness. But this is a lie! Jesus Christ promised us this, "I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." (John 8:12). Our Savior is reassuring us with these words, which have multiple meanings. We know from the this scripture that Jesus is the light and that if we follow Him we shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life. This line could be interpreted to mean that we shall not walk in the darkness of sin and shall have righteous life in the light. But I see another meaning, I interpret that it means we shall not walk in the darkness of death, but be transferred to the Light of Christ upon crossing the chasm that is called death.

Jesus is saying shadow and darkness will not touch us! That if we abide in Him He will not let the fears the enemy has tried to sow in us about death to even take place! We shall not see darkness when it is our time to leave this Earth, but rather the radiant light of Jesus Christ and go to live in that light for eternal life!

As Christians we may try to deny any fear of death and shout as St. Paul, "to die is gain!" (Philippians 1:21). But if we were honest, the prospect of dying does frighten us. We do not know the hour, day, or year when Our Lord will call us home. There should be excitement at the thought of leaving the suffering of this life to be in the perpetual presence of the Savior. But the devil has worked hard through Hollywood and other medias to convince us that death is frightening. Even literature tries to make us leery of letting go of this world with Hamlet's words, "It tis the undiscovered country and once you cross over there is no coming back." How deceptive are the Prince of Denmark's words! Why would we want to come back?! We either trust the words of the Prince of Peace or the homicidal fictional prince of Shakespeare's tragedy. As for me, I put my trust in the Lord!

Let me repeat it again, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me, will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." This is a promise from Jesus that we shall not experience what Hollywood and Hamlet have tried to deceive us with. We will not see shadow and be lost in the darkness of death! No we shall immediately as Christ followers be transferred to the warmth and bright splendor of His presence! St. Paul said, "to be absent in body, is to be present with Christ Jesus." (2 Corinthians 5:8).

The darkness really dwells in this life. It is the kingdom upon which our enemy has built his empire. If the devil cannot make you afraid of death, he will make you afraid of life. Our enemy will try to convince us that his terrors and dark servants can harm us. But the truth is that we have power over these princes, powers, demons, and evil spirits. For our enemy must submit to the authority of Jesus Christ! Call upon the name of Jesus and command with your prayers the hosts of heaven to do battle against the forces of darkness. The Lord will hear our prayers and deliver us from the darkness of the devil (his lies and fear mongering); for the Word of God says, "The light (Jesus) shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it!" (John 1:5).

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
