God's Personality

I've had an epiphany about God. In some churches God is depicted as a person who wants us to evolve or adapt into something we aren't in order to do his work on Earth. God becomes that Boss that we hide aspects of ourselves around because it could effect our employment or in this case salvation or a seat of honor in Heaven. God is seen by the world in this way as an overlord who demands service and a purging of our own desires. The truth is completely contrary. God because of this wrongful image has become unlikable. People have made God this ogre who wants to crush you because of your sins and even though he died and rose again, you still need to do penances to appease his wrath or avoid his disapproval. How did such a warped view of our Creator come into being?! God in direct contrast doesn't want you focused on your sins. Yep, I said it. God wants you to be exactly what he wove you to be in the womb. He wants us to chase after those wholesome dreams he placed in our D

Controllers and Caregivers

There are only two types of people in this world: controllers and caregivers. Controllers seek to dominate, manipulate, and enforce their will over others. They seek to maintain their equilibrium of happiness at the expense of their friends, family, and fellow co-workers. Caregivers in contrast seek to serve through facilitating, networking, and enabling a collective will or collaborative desire. Caregivers seek to create an equilibrium for the whole, for everyone including themselves. They are servants instead of slave drivers, but they are not co-dependent. Caregivers are interdependent, meaning they depend on others but also maintain their independence. They don't become a drone to the desires of others and they don't dominate people with their desires. In every family you will find controllers and caregivers. The Controllers tend to be very fit and can display a competence that compels outsiders to see them as role models. However, the secret that society doesn't

Emulate The Good

On a daily basis we are bombarded by images of darkness. Books, movies, music, and video games have been carefully constructed to teach people of all ages to emulate evil. The hero or good guy has been swept under the rug and in his place the anti-hero has taken his throne. What is deemed popular or cool is a character who inflicts pain on the innocent or who demonstrates his power through sadistic means. As Christians we are called to "mediate on that which is good and of good report." (Philippians 4:8). Our baser nature desires to see these shadows and sinners. Many of us fail to make a "covenant with our eyes, (Job 31:1)" and flock to the cinema to see things we wouldn't dare watch if Christ were at our side. Characters like Darth Vader, The Witchking, The Joker, General Zod, Venom , and plethora of other villains have become role models for children. When I was growing up there was an understanding that I could play and pretend to be Darth Vader, even o

The Lost World Jurassic Park: Your Loss If You Don't Watch

It is a given that the sequel is seldom better than the first installment. In rare cases the second installment is superior but in the case of Jurassic Park the overwhelming criticism affirms that the original is the best. What astounds me is the disdain critics have for The Lost World: Jurassic Park. On sites like Rotten Tomatoes the reviewers retort as if they had expected to see film with the depth and complexity of Inception . The Lost World gets a lousy wrap because it is entirely different from It's predecessor. In Jurassic Park, the setting is a theme park with fences, enclosures, and paddocks to be trapped in with the hungry dinosaurs. In The Lost World the setting is the wild, empty plains, and patches of woodland. Steven Spielburg's sequel is not meant to duplicate the success of the original's brilliance. Nay, in contrast it is meant to deviate and depict the dinos and endangered humans in a different circumstance. In JP, the terror lies inside buildings or o

The Cosmic Conflict

Summa Vittis, 1260 A.D.  Long ago there was a War in Heaven. A coupe was led by a Cherubim named Lucifer. This greatest of the angels led one third of God's host against the Almighty and his contingents. Lucifer and his legion were defeated and cast from the presence of the Most High to the formless and void. This fallen lieutenant has since led a ceaseless campaign against Jehovah. Upon our Genesis, Satan found a new enemy to send his sentinels to seduce and slay. The devil as he is most commonly called, hates the human race because we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). He also loathes us because we took his domain. It is said Lucifer led worship in Eden, before the existence of mankind. It is believed by theologians that Earth has been destroyed before. That the War in Heaven was waged on what became the formless and void that God reshaped and created the planet we call home. ( Revelation 12:7 , Isaiah 14:12 ).   Satan or Hasatan as he is known in Hebrew is not
