Another church falls? Hill Song Founder Brian Houston has been alleged to have covered up his father’s child sexual abuse (https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/cwn/2021/august/hillsong-founder-brian-houston-charged-for-allegedly-concealing-father-rsquo-s-child-sexual-abuse). It seems like we were just recovering from the appalling revelation of the South Baptist sexual abuses, and the Roman Catholic Sexual Scandals. Now one of the most popular churches in the world, with worship music that is heard on loop on the radio stations, and is used by churches around the world is possibly guilty of the unthinkable?!
What is happening? Why are so many churches proving to be rotten, whitewashed tombs that “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”(Matthew 23:27-28). What are we are Christians to do? How long before its our church? Before we learn that our leaders are depraved wolves and predators? The answer is we are seeing the warning and words of Christ unfold, “For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.” (Luke 8:17, NLT), “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops,” (Luke 12:1-3) and “At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:26-28)
What we are witnessing is a reckoning, in which the church is being judged, “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God (Family of God); and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:27, NKJV). Those Priests/ Pastors who appeared holy and righteous to us, have now been proven to be vile predators instead.
I must say I never considered the words of our Lord, “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.”(Matthew 24:9, NIV) would be because of so many public moral failings of church denominations; I also expected it would be the crushing of the antichrist (Revelation 13:7) not people hating us because the church is seen as morally bankrupt. You can be sure this is going to lead to wide distrust and ire towards Christianity. We must prepare to be hated, perhaps even called names because this sexual abuse keeps cropping up in the churches. I will remind you Christ spoke against these abuses, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea”(Matthew 18:6), “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart,” (Matthew 5:28) and the apostle Paul said “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things (practice) will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21). The Lord Jesus and his Apostles declare these sexual abuses as evil and punishable by earthly death in their day snd age, and possibly spiritual death.
It seems Jimmy Swaggart’s infamous confession of sexual sin, “I have sinned,” is to be the norm and with each betrayal people will be shipwrecked in their faith, disillusioned, and confused. As Christ said, “Jesus said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks will come, but woe to the one through whom they come!/ One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting!” (Luke 17:1, Berean Trans and NLT). Indeed, these leaders and churches have destroyed trust in Christianity, worse in Christ and for that they will stand in judgement when Jesus returns to judge all mankind. I must say I am so sorry to those who feel right now that the Church is a fraud, that there is no point to carry on as a Christian. To you I wish to say Christ feels your pain and rage, for He declares sexual abuse as worthy of drowning the predator (Matthew 18:6). I will also say that these leaders are corrupt, but Christ Jesus who is God and Man cannot be corrupt, “..the glory of the incorruptible God..” (Romans 1:23), and “For we do not have a high priest (Jesus Christ) who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
Hill Song United (alleged), The Southern Baptists, and Roman Catholic Church have slighted and stained our Lord Jesus Christ’s reputation. For that these churches shall receive judgement. But their failing I beg lead not to your fall from faith in the only one incapable of any kind of abuse, Jesus Christ. He instead allowed himself to be abused for us on the cross. Don’t let these monsters, these wolves in sheep’s clothing and predators steal your Savior, your salvation. These churches and their Pharisee sque labusers are Satan’s apostles. For they have served their true master the devil, because he comes to “kill, steal, and destroy,” (John 10:10) and like him they are liars; keeping their evil deeds in secret “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:45). You’ve been lied to by Hill Song’s Founder, by Southern Baptist leaders, Roman Catholic Bishops, Priests, and etc. Don’t let Satan murder your faith in Jesus over these people! There is a reason why when Christ returns he shall slaughter the wicked and the blood will be 200+ miles long! (Revelation 14:20). God the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit hated what these abusers and cover up accomplices have done; they have made you question God’s goodness and even perhaps made the cross a reproach to you, “I say with tears many live as enemies of the cross of christ.” (Philippians 3:18).
I beg you, don’t lose faith in Jesus. You can lose it in the Church and its leaders, but don’t lose faith in Christ. For Our Lord’s apostle by the Holy Spirit predicted this evil day would come, “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” (2 Timothy 3:2-3). Notice abusive and without self control is in the list, and that we are directed to avoid such people in the last days. For a fruit of the Holy Spirit is self control (2 Timothy 1:7) and self control is you don’t sexually abuse someone!, and love does no harm unlike sexual abuse, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NIV). Notice love is kind and does not dishonor, sexual abuse is not kind and dishonor. Take note that love rejoices in justice, which includes justice against these predators. And Remember God is love, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8). Above in 1 Corinthians 13 we read love is kind, is not self seeking and does not dishonor and rejoices in truth, God is love so He never dishonors or supports abuse.
Jesus said “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”(Matthew 7:15-20, NKJV). We are seeing rotten fruit from these churches. Its jarring, but Christ and His Apostles foretold that these abusive people would exist and be exposed. Thankfully these predators will be judged, both in the courts of this world and the High Court of Christ in the next life. I urge you not to take justice in your hands via murder. Prosecute, turn the predators in to the authorities (police, etc), but let God avenge you, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:29). For you do not want to commit murder, to sin because of their sin and serve the sentence they deserve in prison. Amen.
