  There is this great song by Creed, song by Scott Stapp that goes, “What’s this Life For?!” It’s a introspective piece meant to urge the listener to take stock of their own life through self examination. I recently watched The Neon Genesis Evangelion Rebuilds (1.0, 2.22, 3.0, and 3.0+1.0), four movies, not the original bleak series. While I was put off at first by Lilith and the Kabala elements with the angels, the overall message of the story is very profound and Christian. Shinji, the main pilot of Eva 01, a mecha Kaiju (giant robot monster like Godzilla) like creation to fight the angels bent on mankind’s destruction is traumatized by having lost his mother at three years old, and his Father Gendo ignores him except to exploit his prowless in Eva mechs. There is a very intriguing verse in the epistle of Peter that says, “like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5). What are these sacrifices? I admit I had to do something research. Most believe it is priestly duties of fasting, prayer, worship, and alms. I however, found the Got Answers list to be rather more in tune with other Scriptures, “Spiritual sacrifices include the believer's prayers, praises, will, bodies, time, and talents.” Of those that stood out to me talents, for Jesus gives a prable of the talents, which many view as money, but I believe it purposefully named to fit what it means today, “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.   The devil is cunning and crafty, the apostle Peters tells us, “The devil is like a lion going about looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). The problem is that Scripture documents Satan and his ways in depth in Ezekiel 28:10-28, Isaiah 14:11-14. Genesis 3:1-19, Revelation 12:4-12, Matthew 4:1-10, and etc. We have in our Bibles his tactics well described and the methods in which to resist so that he shall flee (James 4:7). His companion, who I am convinced is Ashteroth, Isis, and all chief goddesses next to the Baal’s equivalent in each culture, who is goddesses of fertility and war, her true name Lilith, is but in one Scripture, “Lilith, the night demon, who is in wilderness, there she will find rest.” (Isaiah 34:14).   The original Devil Wears Prada movie was about how the Runaway, the “beacon” of the fashion industry was run by a woman akin to the devil herself, Miranda Priestly, played by the legendary actress Meryl Streep. One of her interns, Andy, played by Ann Hathaway is tested as she is transformed by her job from a kind hearted gal to someone willing to throw people under the bus to keep her job. At the end Andy faces a cross roads, and decides not to become the devil’s daughter, and instead chases her journalism goals. The film is a classic, and when sequel was announced I had reservations. The first film tells Andy’s story as protagonist so well from beginning to end, that a sequel felt unnecessary.  My reservations about sequels have merit for some of worst films are sequels made too long after the original, examples being Coming To America 2 and Happy Gilmore 2.   The Apostle Paul warned the Church of Corinth that they put up with another gospel, “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ.   The first time I ever heard the name Lilith was watching Cheers, and later Fraiser, she was a character of cold personality who Fraiser Crane marries and has a child with. Every joke about her spoke of the legends of her contained in The Gilgamish, The Bablyonian Talmud, The Book of Zohar, The Alphabet Ben Sira, and other Jewish Mystical Writings like the Midrash. I did not really understand who she was until I read the Third Volume of Lancelot-Grail Cycle, le queste del sainte graal in which Sir Galhad, Percieval, and another Knight dicuss Lilith on a ship in their journey, mentioning she was the first wife of Adam; that before Eve was another womn who is mother of all witches and demons. This concept that Lilith is a first wife of Adam is found in Roman Catholicism and Judaism.   The Global Suicide rate is “at 1.9 out of 1000,000 people. That comes to 1 out 100 people worldwide.” (Wikipedia). Suicide is not anything new, King Saul threw himself on his sword at prospect of being captured, and Judas Iscariot after betraying Jesus hung himself. What is unique is the uptick, the rise in this century. I believe this trend and the obsession with death, particularly the prevalence of horror movies now is a sign of something more. It is not just a passing fancy, it is Biblical Fufillment.  We have to remember something first. The original angel of death was Satan, ”Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,” (Hebrews 2:14). One of the devil’s offices was custodian of death, I believe Anubis the god of the underworld in the Egyptian pantheons is based on him.
