The first time I ever heard the name Lilith was watching Cheers, and later Fraiser, she was a character of cold personality who Fraiser Crane marries and has a child with. Every joke about her spoke of the legends of her contained in The Gilgamish, The Bablyonian Talmud, The Book of Zohar, The Alphabet Ben Sira, and other Jewish Mystical Writings like the Midrash. I did not really understand who she was until I read the Third Volume of Lancelot-Grail Cycle, le queste del sainte graal in which Sir Galhad, Percieval, and another Knight dicuss Lilith on a ship in their journey, mentioning she was the first wife of Adam; that before Eve was another womn who is mother of all witches and demons. This concept that Lilith is a first wife of Adam is found in Roman Catholicism and Judaism. However, she predates these notions of being Adam’s first mate as demoness and the first Succubus and Vampries in the Gilgamish. In that Sumerian Legend it says of her,
“The Anzu-bird set its young in the branches of the tree. And the dark maid Lilith built her home in the trunk.. And Lilith smashed her home and fled to the wilderness, desert, uninhabited places.” (Gilgamesh, Huluppha Tree). This flight to the wilderness and desert of Lilith is actually connected to our Bible, the Prophet Isaiah records, “The creatures of the desert will encounter jackals And the hairy goat will call to its kind; Indeed, Lilith (night demon) will settle there And find herself a place of rest.” (Isaiah 34:14). Many Bible remove Lilith from this text, so you will have to get an Amplified Bible, Douya-Rhiems Bible, NABRE, and Berean Annotated Bible. Most replace Lilith with Night Monster or Creature, and omit her name, this could be the Jews’ doing, for they so fear her they wear a talisman of three angels names Senoy (Senoi, Senoy), Sansenoy and Semangelof to protect their children from her.
Upon reading the Gospel of Mark I noticed that Jesus encounters the creatures of the desert, “At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.” (Mark 1:12-13). Isaiah says Lilith is among the wild beast and in the desert that Jesus was driven out to, “And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster Lilith shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.” (Isaiah 34:14). It is highly probable our Lord Jesus faced Lilith in desert as well as Satan, for it says, “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.” (Hebrews 4:15). I can see Lilith in her dwelling of desert making war against our Savior as the devil would do with his three temptations. The fact both Isaiah and Mark both record the wild beasts and desert which is associated with Lilith in both Gilgamesh when she was banished and the Isaiah verse is very strong evidence that Emmanuel had to battle her.
If Christ had to fight her what is Lilith’s role as Night Demon? According to the texts from Sumerian to Jewish she is a Succubus who has sex with human men to create demon babies, which God in his punishment destroys a hundred fold. Her role as the first wife of Adam is a Jewish interpretation that comes later than the Prophet Isaiah and Gilgamesh. She is known as the Goddess of Chaos, and is a powerful fallen angel. But how can a angel be female? Well the Prophet Zachariah describes women angels, “Then I looked up—and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.” (Zachariah 5:9). That verse confirms there are women angels, and so Lilith being a woman fallen angel or devil depending on what vernacular you want to use is substantiated by the prophet who did not get his vision or words by mere human revelation, “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21).
There is growing following of Lilith today who interpret her as mistreated Mother goddess. That because she refused to submit to Adam, she called upon the holy name of God :(YHVH or Yahweh) and fled Eden. Acolytes of this Modern interpretation see her as a goddess who will lead you to your desires, who builds your self esteem and tells a person they have worth. However, this is not who she is, this simply a deceptive variation of her much like the misguided notion she was Adam’s first wife which is not found in Genesis or anywhere in Scripture. Lilith’s true nature is Gilgamesh: The Huluppah Tree, Isaiah 34:14, and her more established succubus and vampiress behaviors. She is a Night Demon at work to harm men and probably the spirit behind the extreme feminism we are seeing today.
Lilith has become popular. She is the final boss of Diablo IV The Video Game, and she has become a character of sympathy and scheming in the Hazbin Hotel series that makes demons mediators of redemption.. which is absurd! Demons are the enemies of God!. “ When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. ‘What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”” (Matthew 8: 28-29), and Jesus said of the devil, “I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of the world (Satan) is coming and he has nothing in Me;” (John 14:30) and we know Satan is the prince of demons, “Satan, the prince of demons.” (Luke 11:15). Our Lord Jesus even says he made hell for Satan and his demons, “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels/ demons.” (Matthew 25:41). Hazbin Hotel is deceiving people by having Lilith in heaven, she is in the desert, haunting it as Gilgamesh and the Prophet Isaiah say (see passages posted earlier). There is no demons like there are in Hazbin Hotel seeking to redeem people in hell, for it is written once you die you are then judged by The Most High, “And just as it is destined for people to die once, and after this comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27).
Lilith is roaming the earth along with the other angels that fell with Satan, “Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.” (Revelation 12:7-9). In addition to probably attack our Lord in the Wilderness, it is likely she was power that tried to drown the Virgin Mary, “Then the dragon tried to drown the woman with a flood of water that flowed from his mouth,” (Revelation 12:15), for in earliest text of Gilgamesh Lilith is called a “Water Spirit” and in Occult folklore she is associated with the Ocean.
It is very important as Christians we not give a foothold to any spirit, but rather we are called to test them and caste them out, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world,” (1 John 4:1-3) and “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.” (Matthew 16:17). So beware brethren of Lilith, she is becoming popular in pop culture, and in occult circles. Have nothing to do with her! Rather fix your eyes on Jesus!, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2). Amen.
