The Two Sinister Serpents


The tactics of our enemy are twofold. If the devil cannot get us to be attracted to darkness and the cruel conqueror, he will employ the soft skinned seductress. Many of us are not easily seduced when evil is sold in a grotesque form. When we see creatures like Darth Maul, we can tell that he is malevolent. However, when the devil presents to us a more beautiful creature like the Tortuga Ahsoka Tano or Twi'lek Aayla Secura, resistance becomes more difficult. What is subtle about liking or being attracted to other beings like the aliens in Star Wars or elves in Middle-Earth, is that they predisposition people to desire something that either can never be and thus make the human partner God has chosen for us less attractive than the fantasy or they open the door for people to fall in love with fallen angels, like those in Genesis 6 who had sexual relations with women and gave birth to the giants known as Nephilim.

On one hand Satan is getting us to empathize with evil in It's less attractive form. There is plethora of films and books that endear invidious characters to the masses. One such film coming out is Maleficent, which is meant to make audiences feel sorry for the Satanic Witch, which in contrast to the original story she was depicted as loathsome and in need of destruction by the Christians. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug endears Sauron and Smaug to viewers. Their sheer power and prowess, not to mention the design of their armor and scales makes them attractive to young people and adults alike. On the other side of the spectrum of seduction, is Tauriel who is an elf. She is good in the story, but the fact that she is an elf and attractive, makes men fantasize about a mythological creature rather than be drawn to a human woman, who God created.

Satan usually uses  the seductress as the main serpent to lull Christians and Secularists alike into a web of sexual and spiritual bondage. It is through sex that Satan wields his greatest tool of destruction. The enemy has so polluted sex with pornography, pedophilia, incest, and etc. The Prince of Darkness knows that one of the greatest urges is to breed. That hormones and the original edict to be "fruitful and multiply" can numb the brain and cause mankind to act against sound reason and religious beliefs. If this method of using sensual imagery or the allure of a creation not from God that does not work, Satan then lets the dark lord and demons show themselves and display their prowess and thus win over people with displays of power.

The devil's methods are perversion and power. If he can not get you to empathize with evil via sensuality and soul ties to a character or fantasy that is beautiful, then he shall use power and the desire to display it as the draw that will make your soul dark. The answer to this double edged sword of Satan, is to saturate your mind and heart in the Scriptures and to build up your spiritual life through prayer and communion with the Holy Spirit and the Son of God. Only by being sensitive to the Spirit of God and exercising discernment (a gift of the Spirit) will you see the devil's scimitar. We as Christians must be vigilant and beware of these methods of the Malevolent One.

So be on the alert and ask yourself what draws you to a certain story, world, or character. Is there a power that persuades you to spend your time focused on this person or creature? What natural parts of how God made you are being tested and twisted into liking what is unnatural? Beware that you do not allow fantasy to fool you into loving that which is God forsaken. Stand firm and test it with Scripture and the Holy Spirit. Does it take your focus off Jesus? Does it make you crave that which offends the Creator? Armed with the Armor and weapons of God, you must be ready for the fiery darts of the devil. Two of those darts are power and perversion.

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants.
