Holy Week Video

I compiled the video above in honor of Jesus Christ. The scenes are from Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, and the music is "The Wind Beneath My Wings (Hero)" sung by Bet Middler in the movie Beaches. There are plenty of songs about heroes, there is famous "I need a Hero" and even Skillet's "Hero" but Bet Middler's rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings" captures I think that Jesus is our Hero. In this world of disappointments, it is comforting to look upon Christ and see that He was ultimate hero suffering for us sinners. I was struck by how the words of this song go seamless with the song. Especially when the Hero Chorus starts right when Jesus is being flogged.

I combined The Passion of Christ Flogging Scene with Bet Middler's Rendition of "Wind Beneath My Wings." I do not own the intellectual property to either, but I am first to combine both of them in a video on YouTube (I've looked, there is only a non lyrical version with Jesus pictures). I wanted to share how I see Jesus Christ God and Lord, a Hero. He did not put on a cape, but He put on robe (Matthew 27:28), He did not use heat vision like Superman, but his vision transcends man's hearts and His gaze pierces hearts. He did not fly around the world, but He did ascend into clouds (Acts 1:9-12) and will fly upon clouds at His Second Coming (Revelation 19:11-16). He did not fight some mad man, but He defeated the devil (1 John 3:8, Revelation 20:7-10), took his power away (Hebrews 2:14), and conquered hell (Revelation 20:14). He didn't rescue Gotham, Metropolis, or New York City, He rescued the entire human race (2 Corinthians 5:15). He didn't use an alternative identity, but He did humble himself taking on human flesh, "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God  and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:5-11). He did not wear a mask, but He did wear a crown of thorns (John 19:5). He did not wield Baterangs, swords, or other weapons, He wielded a cross (John 19:17) and will wield the sword of His mouth (Revelation 19:11-16).

My Hero is the True Hero Jesus Christ, Very God of Very God and Man,  One with Father, and Holy Spirit. Heraclius has nothing on Him (Jesus), while Heraclius fought monsters and saved his loving lady in Hades, Jesus Christ fought the prince of monsters, Satan (Revelation 7:7-12) and rescued everyone from Hades (1 Peter  3:19-20, 1 Peter 4:6, Phillippians 2:9-10,  Ephesians 4:7-10,  Romans 10:6-8, Colossians 1:13, Revelation 20:14-15) and holds the keys to Hades and death (Revelation 1:17). Superman has nothing on our Savior, for Superman saved Louis Lane, and saves people from physical death at times, but Jesus saves Souls from the Second Death (Revelation 20:15) and from a worthless life; Superman is fiction and only preserves physical life, Jesus is real and gives us both physical and eternal life (John 1:3, Colossians 1:16, John 6:40, John 3:16). Jesus Christ is a real hero, and He is coming back soon. So "you better be believing, Our God is an awesome God." (Awesome God, Rich Mullins).

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
