What is the Will of God?

Ambition in the Church is a misnomer. There are many that say one cannot be ambitious, but rather submission to the Almighty. However, was not the Apostle Paul ambitious in his quest to reach the Gentiles for the Son of God? There is an argument that Church cannot be political, that is preform according to mere human politics and plotting. The heart inevitably becomes the issue in building the Kingdom on Earth. Popes and Cardinals have considered their work to be the ambition of the Almighty; but many do not share their admiration for the past. Then the question for purists comes, how do you know a plan or passion is from God and not thine own desire? The answer lies quite starkly in Scripture, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2).

The Bible is littered with answers to elusive question, What is God's Will? The Apostles tell us, "This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth," (1 Timothy 2:34). Firstly, He wants people to be saved and come to know Him who is the Truth (John 14:6). Then the Lord wants you to give thanks, "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Beyond giving thanks, God's Will is that we be sanctified and changed; live righteous lives, "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality." (1 Thessalonians 4:3). From this place of sanctification, of being transformed through Christ, we then spread the good works, "For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people." (1 Peter 2:15). These are some examples of what God's Will for you life looks like: 1. to share the Gospel and help people come to know Him, 2. to give thanks to God in all circumstances, 3. to live a sanctified (transformed) life in Christ, and 4. to do good in His name. How one goes about doing these four wills, these four parts of the Gospel can be very specific. Some share gospel through blogs, public speaking, through teaching a martial art, through teaching a public schools, and more. Your circumstances will change, sometimes they will be good, sometimes bad, and you must give thanks to He, "The Lord gives and He takes away." (Job 1:21). Becoming sanctified, made holy, and transformed is a long process, no matter who you are. While there is an immediate transformation the day you embrace the truth of Gospel and the Truth (Jesus, John 14:6), "you are a new creation," (2 Corinthians 5:17), it takes time to have every part of you conform to Christ Jesus (I have not yet arrived). Doing good in His name can range from helping a heart sick friend, visiting a brother or sister in prison, clothing a brother, feeding a brother (Matthew 25:36-38), starting a non-profit to teach impoverished kids in Africa, and so on. Let the Lord guide you how to uniquely pursue His will.

I have not mentioned all the passages that speak of God's Will, so pardon their omission. I stuck to ones that have directions, rather than vagueness. Obviously the Great Commission is God's will for all disciples of Christ, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 25:19). I would add the following as well, 5. Know Christ, "I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I do not know you [we have no relationship]," (Matthew 25:12, AMP) and 6. Keep Watch, "So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return." (Matthew 25:13, NLT). Knowing Christ in relationship is probably more at top of list I have given, and keeping watch is important, for Christ's Return can be at any moment; and in Matthew 25 there plenty of parables about servants of God not being ready and being caste out from His presence and Eternity. God's Will is then not so elusive, if we will take seriously the words written in Holy Scripture. There certainly are unique ways in which we may evangelize, speak of Him, say if you are artist through paint, a writer through words, and if an athlete through excellence and character that goes along with your skill to show the world what matters most, Jesus Christ.

God's Will in its simplest form is to Know God, Be Known by Him, and let others Know about Him (Evangelion, Gospel, preach Christ Crucified and Risen). Beyond that may include building a family, building a kingdom business, or fellowsihping with the poor. Let the Lord lead you into His perfect Will; but thankfully we know from the Bible at least parts of His Will and where to start.

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
