Sword: Word of God

Swords have captured the imagination of people throughout the ages. From the age of Enoch, through the rise of the Roman Empire, to the Metal Medieval Ages, and until the end of the Civil War period, swords were a weapon used by romantic figures, knights, warriors, and soldiers. The sword is a symbol, of liberty. It was the weapon of the warrior for most of human history. But the sword has a history not often known to those who brandish them for reenactments at Renaissance Faires, in ceremonies like the Marines, or at coronations and knightings. The sword is a supernatural substance that is first recorded to have been made by the angels, angels or sons of God (Book of Enoch). The Genesis account says Tubal-Cain made cutting instruments (Genesis 4:22), and the sword has many associations with God Himself.

Recently there was discovery in King Tut's tomb of a dagger made of meteorite. This is fascinating because The Book of Revelation says, "Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born." (Revelation 12:3-4). Jesus said, "He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven." (Luke 10:18). A meteorite looks like shooting star when it descends, and it creates a streak like lightning. The Book of Enoch records that the sons of god (angelos) taught men to make swords, and it is these same sons that appear in Genesis 6:4-5, "leaving their proper abode." The Book of Enoch records that these fallen taught man to make swords, and this then could explain why swords have that supernatural feel to them other weapons do not; angels taught man to make them, and they were at first made of meteorite (not of this world) material. This could explain then that many of famous swords in mythology could have indeed been made by the fallen and given to man, maybe even Excalibur was such a blade. The Lady of the Lake is a water spirit, one of the fallen or their offspring (Genesis 6:4-6) this would then explain why only she could mend it when Lancelot broke Arthur's legendary blade.

According to the apocryphal Dead Sea Scroll The Book of Enoch, the sons of god (angels, see Gen 6) taught men how to make swords prior to their fall. This would mean that the angels then knew how to make this weapon from another source, the Divine Source, God The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We have many connections to Christ and swords in Scripture, "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword," (Matthew 10:34), "Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords (real trans God of gods)," (Revelation 19:15-16), "He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one," (Luke 22:36), "Then all people will know that I the LORD have drawn my sword from its sheath; it will not return again," (Ezekiel 21:5), "You shall say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Drink, be drunk, vomit, fall and rise no more because of the sword which I will send among you," (Jeremiah 25:27), "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12).

I believe the sword is supernatural, because its nature literally comes from the Word of God, Jesus Christ. Many commentators and preachers claim that anytime it reads "the word of god" outside of John, chapter one, it means scripture. But I argue the opposite. Jesus Christ and The Apostles clearly identify when they are talking about Scripture (also called sacred writings, the Law, the Prophets, writings, written) or  Word of God (Jesus Christ), "He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms," (Luke 24:44), "For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in Me: 'And He was numbered with the transgressors.' For what is written about Me is reaching its fulfillment," (Luke 22:37), "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16), "For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope," (Romans 15:4), "You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus," (2 Timothy 3:14-15), "These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken," (John 19:36), and "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from the prophet's own interpretation." (2 Peter1:20).

Here is the verse I believe gets misunderstood, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart," (Hebrews 4:12). How can the Bible divide my body and spirit, when Jesus says of God, "Don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28). How can Scripture know my thoughts and attitudes? The following verse to Hebrews 4:12 clearly shows this Word of God, sharper than a two edged sword is God, "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." (Hebrews 4:13). In prior verse it says, "knows your heart and attitudes," this verse has "Nothing is hidden from God's sight," making the connection. Besides the Revelation shares that a sword actually proceeds from mouth of Jesus Christ, "Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords (real trans God of gods)," (Revelation 19:15-16), and, "In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades." (Revelation 1:15-18).

Many continue to interpret this verse, "Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," (Ephesians 6:17) as the Bible. But I have established that Paul clarifies when he references Scripture, calling it Scripture (Tim). The sword of spirit which is the word of God, is God! For the apostle John accounts, "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
" (John 1:1-3, 10, 14-15). It stands to reason then when we see the title, Word of God anywhere else in scripture it is referring not to the Bible (which was no canonized into 66 books until circa 500 A.D., five hundred years after these words were written) but rather is reffering directly to Jesus Christ himself, as in the case of Revelation, "He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty." (Revelation 19:13,15). This then cross references to, "Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," (Ephesians 6:17) and "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12-13).

Does this mean Jesus is a Sword?! No, it means a sword proceeds from Him and that He is the true sword, more powerful than meterotie of the angels, or the iron and steel of sword smiths, capable of "cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires." (Hebrews 4:12). Christ is the ultimate sword, weapon against all evil spirits and even death itself (Ephensians 6). This does not mean Christ become a inaimate object or even object that has human features, but rather He himself is sharper than a sword, and from Him a sword proceeds from his mouth to smite the nations (Rev 19:13). Sword and word are one letter apart, the sword of spirit is an attribute of the Word of God, what He does, and so are the other pieces of armor, "the shield of faith (is God, Pslam 28:7), faith in Christ is our shield against Satan's lies (arrows), the breastplate of righteousness, we are made only righteous through Jesus Christ Himself (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 1:30), the shoes shod for the Gospel, He told us to "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," (Matthew 28:19), the Helmet of Salvation means your mind guarded by Christ the Savior; "you have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power (Jesus see 1 Corinthians 1:24), love (Jesus, God is love, see 1 John 4:8), and a Sound Mind (Jesus, see 1 Corinthians 2:16), and fianally the sword of spirit is of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God Jesus Christ as already established.

What does this mean for us then? Are we to wield swords? If you mean the blades of iron and steel that were once primary weapon of cavaliers, that is ill advised because of the advent of the gun. In a spiritual way yes, for Paul urges us to put on armor of God, "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes," (Ephensians 6:11). But it also means to take up Christ, He is the true sword that is able to stike the nations (Rev 19:15) and destroy the Evil One and his fallen angels (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:10). God is not a weapon, or a war god (baal) but He does have a sword and is more powerful and sharper than any two edge sword. He has the power over "death and hades," (Revelation 1:18) and more. He is in whom we must put our trust, "some trust in chariots, some in horses, but I trust in name of the LORD our God (Jesus, Romans 10:9)." (Pslam 20:7). The Word of God, Jesus Christ is our sword! He is God and more powerful than steel! Put your trust in Him who is mightier than all armies of this Earth! For Christ put needs to breath to destroy the enemy, "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming." (2 Thessalonians 2:8, this cross references to Revelation 19:13,15 which says from mouth of Jesus Christ comes the Sword/breath).

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These w

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come and died for our sins an

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few people are endeavo
