New York City Skyline, Crosses, 3/29/1956 |
It would only be four more years after the photo of the New York Skyline was taken that the dawn of "free lovin and peace" would take place (1960's). The age of sexual revolution and rebellion would sweep the nation as another war, Vietnam, took place. In was then in the Hippy Flower Child years that our country descended into anarchy. Those same Peace and Love types would later become the Yuppies, and one of them would go on to create from the visions he had on drugs an empire called Apple (see Steve Job's Biography and His Biographical Film starting Ashton Kutcher).
Fast forward fifty more years and this country has seeped into communism. Peace and Love lead to Poverty and Loss. Our nation is now unrecognizable, Christians in the supposed Free States are persecuted by gestapos for their personal convictions, while other religious groups are granted protection and asylums on our soil. This nation has been changed within nearly a century into country where Christians are considered threats to progress. The skyline of 1967 wouldn't even be possible now, there would be an outcry from immigrants who would want other religious symbols displayed.
In One Hundred Years this Country went from Christian and protecting Christian rights and even endorsing them to making it a crime to display a nativity outside a federal building (that has been a tradition for hundreds of years) or praying in public school (when the first schools in America circa 15th Century up until 20th Century had students read the Bible and Pray in the classroom). Make not mistake Christianity alone is under constant assault. Muslims are free to pray on their rugs facing Mecca, Buddhists to cross their legs under a tree, and even Satanists to give a prayer at Judicial meeting; but if a Christian dares exert their own rights to pray it is seen as proselyting and the old quote, "separation of Church and state," is used. Even though Thomas Jefferson meant, that there should be "no state church. As in no Church of America, like the Church of England." In essence Jefferson was saying no Pope and Papacy, but freedom to have whatever Christian Church or gathering you wanted.
Our country is unrecognizable. Even to me who has only seen two decades. The intimidation used against believers is astounding. Cake companies and Chicken chains are being bullied to provide services to those who violate the convictions of those companies. While our government would never ask a Muslim to violate his or her religious belief by serving or eating pork, Christians are threatened with IRS sanctions and other reprimands for not allowing their beliefs to be violated. The double standard is stark and anyone who points it out is labeled "radical" and "delusional."
I frankly believe it is too late for America. The glory of this once great nation has gone because the Glory of the God has been forced out. This country was founded on Christ twice, firstly on shores of Virginia in 1607 with the landing of Reverend Robert Hunt on April 29th. There at Virginia Beach the reverend place a giant cross that still stands today on the beach. Then it was claimed for Christ by Pilgrims in 1620 via "Mayflower Compact." Later in 1781-1789 the United States Constitution which was founded on the Bible was written and went into effect. Our history as nation is Christian. We were founded to be a "city on a hill," and to be "the light and glory (of God)," to all nations.
Now the cross at Virginal beach could be taken down, the history Mayflower and Pilgrims is rewritten from being, "The Pilgrims left England because of religious persecution of their Christian beliefs," (true history) to the new history books that say, "the pilgrims liked to travel." (pseudo/false history). The Founding Fathers such as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and the many others have been vilified and transformed from their brave true selves into men with bad motives and carnal exploits. Benjamin Franklin who invented the library, better lampposts, wrote volumes of history, did riveting experiments, and many others things is now just considered a letch and nymphomaniac. The truth of our origins as a Christian nation are being forgotten and rewritten, all with the goal of convincing the naïve that America is United Nations Country, when in truth is was United Christian Country.
At this point our nation is poised to fall. Many may pray for mercy, but that might be God's mercy. To let this self sufficient, egotistical, Mammonist, materialist, and pagan nation experience humility. It maybe time for America to not bend its knee, but to be forced to its knees. To be treated as Job, "where were you when laid the earth's foundation?!" (Job 38:4). I believe we are about to be humbled. On one hand it means the pride of this nation will be shaken and broken perhaps forever, on the other hand it means revival and a return to Christ. To quote David Wilkerson, "There will be a slight recovery after the recession, in that time settle your affairs, for then there will be a great crash, a greater recession and there will be no recovery."
I hate to bust the bubble of patriot brothers and sisters in Christ, but America is mentioned as the Coastlands in the Bible and here is what it says, "Coastlands, listen to Me in silence, And let the peoples gain new strength; Let them come forward, then let them speak; Let us come together for judgment." (Isaiah 41:11, Coastlands are mentioned in Daniel 11:18-19). Jesus Christ is coming back to Israel, not the United States of America. He will set foot on Mount Olivet, not Mount Rushmore (Zachariah 14:4). He will reign from Jerusalem not Jamestown (Revelation 21:2).
I am thankful for America, it has been the place I call home. But alas God's anger I believe is kindled towards her and soon we shall see hard times fall upon this once great nation. The commercial featuring Chinese people studying the rise and fall of empires, on list being the Greeks, Romans, and then Americans. The teacher says, "why do great empires fall? Because they turn their backs on their beliefs and principles."To quote Ramses II, "so it shall be written, so shall it be done." (Cecile B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments).
