We know that in these end times we must be armed to fight the enemy of the Alpha and Omega. Armed not with visible weapons but invisible, not physical but spiritual weapons. The Apostle Paul tells us that we must put on holy arms and armor (Ephesians 6:10-18), and pitch battle against our unseen for, the devil and his host. While the sword of the spirit and shield of faith really are that by the spirit of God you can destroy the enemy and by faith in Christ our God you can defend yourself; I urge that thee are two more offensive and defensive weapons in our arsenal. John the Apostle tells us that the saints overcome Satan with two weapons, “the triumphed over him (the accuser of the brethren, devil) by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony and they did not shrink from death nor fear to die.” (Revelation 12:11). All the paintings of Christ our Lord fail. They fail to convey how close Jesus really is to us. Most art pieces portray the Prince of Peace in a solemn, regal, and majestic light. Christ seems in theses caricatures to only tolerate a slight touch of his fingers on the “unholy ones,” and His expression and countenance comes across as disappointed, aloof, and indifferent. How opposite of how Jesus really is!, “"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me.” (Luke 13:34). This statement by the Savior does not proclaim distance in affection but a desire to be close to His people as a hen is to her chicks. The Knights Templar are perhaps the most fascinating and captivating fraternity of knighthood in the Middle Ages. Nothing can eclipse them, not even King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table because unlike Camelot the Templars are verified to have existed in histories, account ledgers, and archalogical finds. The Knights of the Round Table are legend, while the Templars are legendary. Legends may surround the Knights of the Temple, but it is undisputed that the Order of The Knights of Jesus Christ of the Temple of Solomon did exist. But what causes us to be captivated by these miltes christi? Why are Catholics and Protestants alike inspired by a monastic military order that merged Knight and monk; paladin and priest into one? The Ark of the Covenant has been the ultimate treasure that archaeologists and legend seekers have sought to find. The Ark was a box made of gold that contained the staff of Aaron, the tablets of the Ten Commandments, and the manna from heaven the Israelites ate in the wilderness. More than this it contained the presence of the Almighty and was the Mercy Seat (Exodus 25:22) that the high priest sprinkled blood on for the sins of Israel every year. The Ark of the Covenant made popular again by Stephen Spielberg’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and has since captivated the imagination of relic hunters and lay people alike. The fascination with this relic actually concerns me. The main reason is that God allowed it to be lost when King Nebachenezzer sacked Jerusalem and carried the Jews off to Babylon,  with the exception of Jeremiah. We are seeing the twilight of superheroes. Every genre is having an upheaval, from the Last Jedi transforming Luke Jedi paladin to heretic, Optimus Prime becoming a villain in The Last Knight, Jurassic Word making humans the villains and the dinosaurs who devoured people the victims. There is a concerted effort to destroy heroes and mutate them into a post-modern progressive nihilism. Recently, in the new Avengers film, fans watched their favorite heroes perishing, including Spider-Man whose suffering has scared some children. While it certainly is likely Disney will ‘ressurect’ these heroes in the next installment in the Avemger’s saga, it will be only to fill their coffers and keep their revenue streams strong. Despite this, it is evident heroes are falling and fans from and  themselves  boycotting and retreating to their hermitages where Luke still believes The Light Side is stronger, Optimus Prime still punishes Decepticons, and dinosaurs arn’t an animal rights sermon...

There is perhaps no painting more famous than Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. People from around the world come to see her and speculate over what is the cause of her smile. I too have visited The Louvre and seen the woman whose mystique has captured the imagination of artists and laymen alike. Recently, I was perusing religious art and found a close up of Christ. The painting is a concentrated view of a larger altar piece of Jesus’ Ressurection. Flanked on either side of the Lord is the usual suspects, Mary Magadelene and the Apostle John. The close up however, reveal elements that are similar to the Mona Lisa. There is a landscape in the background which has the same forest green trees, hills, and a castle tower which seems to be not to disimilar to the castle towers of the Mona Lisa: Had the Christ painting been a portrait and not a altar painting in three pieces I might have been in led to believe this was made by Da Vinci and that the Mona Lisa was a Madonna. Christ has defeated Satan. Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection has dealt a fatal blow to that Serpent of Old. As long as people hold fast and keeping trusting in Christ (John 6:40) then the devil remains pressed under the feet of Christ. All that our enemy can do is cause doubt. That crafty serpent knows his hour is short and soon his judgement will be administered. The Red Dragon of Revelation now seeks to either seduce souls into apostasy or to give Christ a bad name. Hence why so many movements have fallen into error and made the evil one revel at the loss of confidence in Christianity.
