The Song of Roland declares “Paien unt tort e crestiens unt driets: Pagans are wrong, Christians are right.” This is true, we have the gospel, the good news, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned (judged) already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” (John 3:16-18). The verse 18 of John Chapter Three is the state pagans are in, “those who refuse to believe in son are judged already.” So the pagans are wrong. They are trying to seduce people these days with tarot, yoga, psychics, crystals, pagan prayer ropes, and more. There aim is to seduce you from pure devotion to Jesus, “But I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3).
Neo Paganism is growing in popularity. I have known three, one a martial artist, another a neighbor, and a third online. Those turning to the norse gods is growing, as well as the other pagan and occult streams, which is a tragedy, they exchange the immortal god for a lie, “exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” (Romans 1:23). People are abandoning the True Triune God for fallen angels (false gods), the sons of god who fell, “And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day,” (Jude 1:6), and “Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.” (Revelation 12:7-9).
We must resist the tide of paganism. Not with swords as the Crusaders did, but with the spiritual sword of prayer and through preachung the gospel. We must adopt Jude’s urgency of saints who maybe swaying, tapping into their pagan bloodlines ans becoming introgued by the pagan gods their people worshipped, “keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment[g] stained by the flesh..” (Jude 1:21-23). We have to operate in mercy, seeking to help those being seduced by paganism and witchcraft while not being stained by it, make sure you get other prayer warriors to support you if you are outreaching to pagans or helping a saint lapsing into paganism. Remeber that its two oe more, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them,” (Matthew 18:20), “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven,” (Matthew 18:18), and He sent them out two by two, “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.” (Luke 10:1). Always go in twos, two Christians to a pagan you are outreaching to.
We are called to “snatch others from the fire,” while not being “tainted by the sin that contaminates their lives.” (Jude 1:23). Our world is reverting to paganism and we need to be equipped and ready to give an defense (apology, apologetics) of our faith, “but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: beingready always to give answer to every man that asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear (alt gentleness and respect).” (1 Peter 3:15). Amen.
