The Stars in all their majesty, the planets in all their glory are designed by the Creator. Scientists say the universe keeps expanding, on until infinity which testifies of the eternal Trinity thay commands its expansion. The luminous orbs in the black space have always intrigued mankind. Sadly those who had fallen from the knowledge of the True Triune God began to worship the celestial spheres, ”And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven,” (Deuteronomy 4:19), and “they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles” (Romans 1:23). We as Christians know the galaxy is full of God’s creation, that each star, planet and comet is forged by God’s hand like drops of paint on a canvas.
With such beautiful constellations we wonder why God is mindful of us, “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:3-4). The splendor of the stars and the entire cosmos makes us seem small and yet we are the only creation that God calls His children, “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus,” (Galatians 3:26 NLT), and we are the only creation garanteed salvation through Christ, “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him.” (Romans 5:9). At the cross our Lord and Savior Jesus paid for our sins, not for the stars, planets, and etc; but us! Think of that! Of all the beauty that is in the constellations, Christ rescued only us, His Children.
The Hubble Space Telescope was able to take a picture of a galaxy near ours, and this was the image:
A cross! The nearby galaxy is in the shape of the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, it even looks like a crucifix, with Christ hanging upon the cross.
It occurred to me this cross seen by Hubble could be the Sign Christ in the heavens before His coming, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light…then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven (οὐρανός, οῦ, ὁ, ouranos, heaven, the visible heavens: the atmosphere, the sky, the starry heavens, the spiritual heavens.)…they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30-31). The heavens is not always the sky, it is space, and so our Lord knew we would be able to see it with the Hubble Telescope!
The Universe is vast and it speaks of our Sovereign Lord. Christ knows every star’s name, “He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names” (Psalm 147:4). Perhaps even the planets in our solar system have non-pagan names for instance, Mercury maybe Michael, Venus may be Virgin, Earth may be Eden, Mars maybe Maccabees, Jupiter maybe Judah, Saturn may be Son of Man, Neptune maybe Nazer, and Uranus could be Uriel or Uriah.
The galaxies spin with God’s glory. In the beginning He set them apart for His worship and beauty, “And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,” (Genesis 1:14), and “For by Christ all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:16). However a day is coming when Christ will dissolve them, for they like our planet earth are tainted with sin, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.” (2 Peter 3:10). It is possible God has already constructed the New Earth (Revelation 21:1) called Keplar:
What if the Trinity was creating new galaxies to replace the old ones, and the New Earth like the New Jerusalem is already ready? We know the current earth we live on will be destroyed, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10). It would make sense our Lord already made a New Earth. I am fine if He forges it in a second after His Thousand Year Reign and the devil’s judgement (Revelation 20:10). But what if Keplar or some other planet in perhaps the Galaxy called Whirlpool that is in the shape of the cross contains the awaiting New Earth?! Its fun to think about! Because Scripture isn’t really detailed on how the New Earth appears, “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.” (Revelation 21:1). This verse proves the Lord will destroy the earth and heavens (stars, space) and replace them with new ones. But it doesn’t say He couldn’t have the New Earth already set aside. On the other hand one could argue like our galaxy and planet which is tainted with sin, God may have to purge the Universe and make a new one. We shall know when He Returns. Amen.
