In these times we may feel ourselves beginning to fray, with all the changes technologically and all the turmoil from The Holy Land to the New World. We may feel ourselves overstimulated, overwhelmed, and overwrought. Thanks be to our God there is hope! Our Lord sustains us, strengthens us in these times!:
“He will sustain you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ’s return.” (1 Corinthians 1:8).
“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength (sustain).” (Isaiah 40:29)
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen (sustain) you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens (sustains) me.” (Philippians 4:13)
These verses can give us courage! That we are not abandoned in the madness of this world that seeks to surmount us. Our Savior is there to sustain, to strengthen us within to bear our cross and face the trials of this life! He is there to strengthen your hand to plow on when the stars fall! I am not claiming that it will always be pleasant but The Lord Jesus will sustain you and keep you. When this world beats you down and you feel faint recite, “greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4). You have the Great Sustainer inside of you! (1 John 4:15).
I know right now you may be facing giants and platitudes feel as a field of rotten potatoes. I am not urging you to ignore the storms and live in a state of denial, but rather face them with The Sustainer, The Lord of Hosts, Jesus Christ! He is one that can strengthen you to face the struggles and strain. Place your trust in Christ who can keep you and uphold you though you feel yourself going to pieces. Let Him be the savior as well as The Savior, to support you when you feel faint, “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength (sustain),” (Isaiah 40:29), “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). Amen.
