It can be very enticing to study the words of renowned priests & bishops from The Catholic Church. There is a renewed fascination in Protestant circles with Augustine of Hippo, Origen, Thomas Aquinas, Francis of Assisi, Pope Gregory VII, and many others. It is important to understand that Roman Catholic theologians, priests, and scholars are priests of hell, their teaching is based on Roman Catholic doctrines that teaches another gospel tuan Jesus and his apostles taught, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!” (Galatians 1:6-9). They are in effect preaching a false Jesus, not The One in Scripture, “But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it too easily” (2 Corinthians 11:3-4).
The Moravian Brethren which was persecuted for their Protestant faith and holding to the Scriptures said this of Roman Catholic Priests:
“It is better," he said, "to tie a dog to a pulpit than allow a priest to defile it. It is better, oh, women! for your sons to be hangmen than to be priests; for the hangman only kills the body, while the priest kills the soul. Look there," he suddenly exclaimed one Sunday, pointing to a picture of St. Peter on the wall, "there is as much difference between the priests of to-day and the twelve apostles as there is between that old painting and the living St. Peter in heaven. For the priests have put the devil into the sacraments themselves, and are leading you straight to the fires of Hell.” (from "Illustrated History of the Moravian Church" by J.E. Hutton, Hosanna Fellowship Press). I am inclined to agree, The Roman Priesthood adheres to The Council of Trent despite Vatican II because Trent established doctrines of the Catholic Church on most matters in their attempt to distinguish themselves from the Reformed Churches, and thus cannot be discounted by the RCC, and it is in the Council of Trent that attacks & damns the true gospel (Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16, Acts 4:10-12, Ephesians 4:6-21) that says we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus alone (see my post on The Council of Trent: https://sirjeffreypendragonblog.blogspot.com/2022/07/the-council-of-trent-catholics-damn.html?m=1).
The Council of Trent cannot be undo even by this Progressive Pope, it has too many of Roman Catholic Orthodox beliefs and thus must remain in effect and subsequently that means the RCC is an antichrist church because its doctrines say the doctrine of Christ and gospel in Scripture is wrong.
I am revisiting this subject because there is an effort to mingle Catholicism with Protestantism, The Pope had been trying go bridge the gap, but that gap is a gulf because of the Council of Trent and the lies in Roman Catholic teachings like the treasury of merits that goes against scripture, “How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?,” (Hebrews 10:29), “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”, (Galatians 2:21) and “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith” (Philippians 3:8-9).
The stain of Romanism as it has suffered loses over scandal is trying to seep into our pure pool of our faith, “But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.” (2 Corinthians 11:3). We must be diligent and not let them mingle their demonic and antichrist doctrines with our own! Stay away from their church doctors, scholars, theologians, and priests! All that you need is in The Scriptures for sound doctrine, “All Scripture is God-breathed and. is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and. training in righteousness, so that the servant of God. may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Do not become deceived and let the worms of hell infect your mind with Roman Catholic lies and half truths! For Eve in the garden said, “3but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die” (Genesis 3:3.) Eve added touch to God’s command which said don’t eat nothing about touch (Genesis 2:16-17), Eve added a doctrine just as the Roman Catholic doctrine makers add to the blood of Jesus and his all sufficient sacrifice with their doctrines.
Here is the skinny,
“Christ Is the Perfect Sacrifice
So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.
Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.
Now when someone leaves a will, it is necessary to prove that the person who made it is dead. The will goes into effect only after the person’s death. While the person who made it is still alive, the will cannot be put into effect.
That is why even the first covenant was put into effect with the blood of an animal. For after Moses had read each of God’s commandments to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, along with water, and sprinkled both the book of God’s law and all the people, using hyssop branches and scarlet wool. Then he said, “This blood confirms the covenant God has made with you.” And in the same way, he sprinkled blood on the Tabernacle and on everything used for worship. In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.
That is why the Tabernacle and everything in it, which were copies of things in heaven, had to be purified by the blood of animals. But the real things in heaven had to be purified with far better sacrifices than the blood of animals.
For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. And he did not enter heaven to offer himself again and again, like the high priest here on earth who enters the Most Holy Place year after year with the blood of an animal. If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.
And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.
Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All
The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship. 2 If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.
But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year. For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God,
“You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin. Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’ First, Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses). Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.
Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.
And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,
“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.” Then he says,
“I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”
And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.” (Hebrews 9:11-28 and 10:1-18). Amen.
