One Million have left the Methodist Communion in one day in West Africa over the ordination of LGBTQ (https://www2.cbn.com/news/us/united-methodists-lose-1m-members-single-day-council-bishops-grieves-mass-exodus). The zeal in which social issues and modern morality is being imposed on churches is bizarre. Those in Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and other religions are not pressured to ignore their holy texts and approbate their beliefs with modern ones that contradict their scriptures. So why is the Church being riven in almost every denomination, the Anglican and Lutheran splits being the most recent, while Presbyterian and Evangelicals have to come under ECCO to keep their biblical beliefs. No other faiths are having to relocate their oversight or fear being ostracized or even getting litigated for holding to what their sacred books say.
This Conformism to Non-Biblical Cultural Norms is specifically directed at churches, causing major schisms and in the case of the Methodists a mass exodus. Why is it that the ancient beliefs of India, The Orient, and even The Celts & Norse are respected, but Christians better conform to modern norms! The answer is Satan.. he has not interest in fracturing or assaulting beliefs that do not contain The Way, The Truth, and the Life; The Only Way to Eternal Life Jesus Christ (John 14:6, John 3:16-18, Acts 4:10-12, 1 John 4:15, Romans 10:9-10). The devil has no interest in faiths that do not contain the cure for sin and eternal death, he assaults Christianity because Christ is the answer, the Only Way to heaven and to know God because He is God (2 Peter 1:1, John 1:1-17, Colossians 1:16, Colossians 2:9, Titus 2:13).
The infection of liberal theology and morals in churches had been a problem since the horrid Age of Enlightenment with its deceivers who polluted the churches with liberal lies. Charles Spurgeon was one of few voices preaching the true gospel in those times, warning as Paul, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!,” (Galatians 1:6-9), “This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves,” (Galatians 2:4), and “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if [a]one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, this you tolerate too well!” (2 Corinthians 11:3-4). It has gotten exponentially worse in our age as non-Christian beliefs are being imposed by the culture on churches.
As for people trying to impose sinful behavior on churches I say as the Scripture says, “He that is unrighteous, let him do unrighteousness still: and he that is filthy, let him be made filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him do righteousness still: and he that is holy, let him be made holy still.” (Revelation 22:11-12). If you want to live unrighteously, that is your choice, but do not try to make it a mandate and control those who would still are righteous and seek to be holy, though such persecution fulfills Paul’s words, “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” (2 Timothy 3:12).
We will continue to see this schisms as people must choose between conforming to this world or staying transformed, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2). The churches will be splintered on these lines, just as Jesus said there will be sheep and goats, “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life,” (Matthew 25:31-46), and tares among the wheat, “Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” (Matthew 13:24-30). Amen.
