Precious Jesus

The Band Third Day has done some major hits, one of which was “King of Glory.” The song highlights what is most precious of all, Jesus our King of Glory:

“Who is this King of glory that pursues me with His love

And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words

My conscious, a reminder of forgiveness that I need

Who is this King of glory who offers it to me

Who is this King of angels, O blessed Prince of Peace

Revealing things of Heaven and all its mysteries

My spirit's ever longing for His grace in which to stand

Who is this King of glory, Son of God and son of man

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

Who is this King of glory with strength and majesty

And wisdom beyond measure, the gracious King of kings

The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things

He is this King of glory, He's everything to me

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things

He is the King of glory, He's everything to me

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

Yeah, His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

Yeah

Yeah

The King of my heart

The King of my heart

The King of glory

His name is Jesus

The King of glory

The King of glory

Yeah

King of my heart

The King of glory

His name is Jesus

Lord Almighty

The King of glory.”

-Third Day, King of Glory, GENIUS Lyrics

The line King of Glory comes from the Psalm of David, “Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.” (Psalm 25:8-10, KJV)

The Line repeated in the different choruses “His name is Jesus, precious Jesus” is from a translation, “To you who believe, Jesus Christ is precious" (1 Peter 2:7) which comes from “Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.” (1 Peter 2:7-8, NKJV). I love this line, that Jesus is precious to us. Third Day’s delivery of the line resonates and has an impact!

The line “He’s everything to me!,” comes from Paul’s words, “More than that, I count all things to be a loss compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord..” (Philippians 3:8). Indeed Jesus is everything to us! He is God, Son of God, Savior, Friend, Husband, Master, Truth, Love, Prince of Peace, and King of Glory!

The line “softly spoken words,” comes from the verse, “And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” (1 Kings 19:12). That is how our Lord often communicates, a still and quiet voice.

Worship use to be steeped in Scripture, easy to memorize and sing. The current worship trends are to cater to the worship band, and are not catchy and easy to sing, needing a Juillard degree to preform. Worship leaders are suppose to facility worship, to help  access intimacy with The Holy Trinity in worship, not build a platform to be discovered as the next Chris Tomerlin or Elevation Worship. The point is to “come back to heart of worship, its all about you, its all about you Jesus. I am sorry for the thing I made it, its all about you..” (Matt Redman). Redman’s lines are what worship leaders need to mediate on, that they have made it a proxy to become famous, when worship is suppose to be meeting of hearts between God and His people!

I hope King of Glory blesses you. It is a great worship song as rich as a hymn and as catchy are contemporary worship. I shall continue to endeavor sharing hymns, worship songs, and theological rich tunes a part of this blog, “ What then, brothers and sisters? Whenever you come together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Everything is to be done for building up.” (1 Corinthians 14:26). Amen.

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
