Tune into the news and you will get holiday blues. It seems everything is in an upheaval, from terrorists attacks to impeachments. The world seems topsy turvy and as Christians we ask ourselves what should we do? In the midst of a tempest of tribulation in China, Israel, Syria, Iran, Ethiopia, Sudan, United States and beyond, what should we do? Pray. Yes pray for our brothers and sisters, but more specifically pray for Christ to return, to hasten His Second Advent!
For in the last book of the Bible, Our Lord and God Jesus Christ commends us to pray His Parousia, “The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." Let anyone who hears this say, "Come." Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.” (Revelation 22:17). The Second Coming of Christ can be hastened if we but make petition, for He promised that if he did not hasten none would survive, “In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.” (Matthew 24:22).
I am not saying we control Christ, only the Father knows the Second Advent (), but He does command we pray, seek, and desire his return like a bride awaiting a bridegroom. There are many who are content if Christ delays (2 Peter 3:1-24), but the Church should jubilantly seeks our Lord Jesus’ Coming! Let us pray as calamities increase; as the troubles bubble around us, that our Lord Jesus would hasten and come quickly, “He that testifies these things says, Yea, I come quickly. Amen; come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20).
