Be warned brethren in Christ! The false gospels and false christs have come! Recently, I was watching A.D. The Bible Continues and in a pivotal moment the actor portraying Peter said, "Jesus, He is the servant of God." Jesus is not the servant of God, He is the Son of God and God Himself! (1 John 4:15, Hebrews 1:1-6, John 10:30, John 14:9, John 17:21, Matthew 1:23, Colossians 2:9, Philemon 2:5-8, Matthew 16:16, 1 John 4:15, Colossians 2:9, John 17:20-23). To my surprise, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett are sharing a gospel that is not the Gospel in the Bible! They have Jesus in their famous Bible Series and Son of God film saying, "I have come to change the world," and other esoteric sentences, but not rarely any declarations by Jesus according Scriptures which are, "I came to die for man's sin, to reconcile man to the Father, and to give you life abundantly."
We must be careful right now in this age when false gospels, false christs, and heresies abound. Hollywood is peddling these heretical beliefs through diverse means, sometimes using Scott Free, Ridley Scott's atheistic approach or Lightworkers Media which Roma Downey's heretical approach. Right now, it is going to be important that you know your Bible. Because the Bible is getting distorted and the Gospel is getting altered. I was doing some research and came across this sagely wisdom from a person commenting on the Bible Series: "I think this corruption and watering down of the Gospel is more harmful in the long run than the outright satanic element in music/TV/movies. People will want to believe in a God who’s “merciful”, but not righteous and then begin to create (then worship) that image in their minds." (Nicole Strong). Mrs. Strong's words are succinct and straight to he point. An outright lie can be spotted easily and someone trying to deceive people with lies that are easily refuted or proven to be lies will have a hard time harming genuine Christian believers. But a lie with enough truth in it is dangerous, because the little piece of truth draws believers, but the lie kills them! To quote a friend, "a lie with some truth is like rat poison, such poison has natural ingredients that are good for you, but there is enough hidden poison to kill."
Mrs. Strong's words echo the truth, that a watered down gospel is far more dangerous than goading propaganda from Satanists. It is not the external or extrinsic threat that is most harmful, but the internal and intrinsic one. Watered down and false gospels are not new threats. The moles as you may call them have been around since the Early Church. In fact, the Council of Nicaea in 323 was summoned to deal with the Arian Heresy and other heresies and establish what Orthodox Christian faith really is. But even before the Third Century, Christ's followers warned of false gospels, false teachers, false prophets, and even false Christ. In fact, Jesus Christ himself warned of them in his own words, "For there shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; and if it were possible these false christs and prophets shall deceive the elect (true believers)." (Matthew 24:24).
If you cannot memorize many Scripture passages, remember this one. Its easy, "False christs and false prophets will arise, and if possible deceive the Elect." The address is even simple, Matthew 24:24, the same numbers. Nicole Strong's words echo Emmanuel's own. She talks about how people will have this corruption and believe in Christ who merciful, but who will never judge righteously, which in effect creates a false Christ that does not exist. For Jesus Christ in the Bible and in True Believers is both Merciful and Justice; both Forgiver and Judge, both Soft and Tough Love (1 John 4:8). God is just and we know that He shall return and judge, "the quick and the dead." (See the following verses about God's judgment: John 5:22, John 5:27, John 5:30, John 8:15-16, John 9:39, John 12: 47-48, Matthew 25:31-46, Acts 10:42, Acts 17:31, Romans 2:16, Romans 14:10, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 2 Timothy 4:1, 2 Timothy 4:8, James 4:12, James 5:9, 1 Peter 4:5, 2 Peter 2:4, Hebrews 9:27, Hebrews 10:30, Revelation 19;11, Revelation 20:11-15).
Does the Bible say that people will fall away from the Truth of God's Word and Jesus Christ? Yes, in fact there are several Scripture. Let me share them with you: "Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away (abandon) from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons." (1 Timothy 4:1).
"For a time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears ; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables." (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
The Apostle Paul warns us to beware of the doctrine of demons and fables of false teachers. But he also speaks of philosophers:
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ" (Colossians 2:8).
The Apostle John reaffirms that there are false prophets by speaking of them his own letter:
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." (1 John 4:1).
Then the Apostle Paul warns us there will be false gospels and false christs, echoing Jesus' own words in Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:22:
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!" (Galatians 1:8)
"As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:9).
"But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted.." (2 Corinthians 11:3-4).
It becomes rather evident that we must beware of false gospels, false christs, false prophets, and false teachers. But how? How does one discern is someone is a any of these? By reading the Holy Scriptures and leaning on the Holy Spirit. When you read the Four Synoptic Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you will know the Gospel. For in them is the whole account of salvation: how to confess sin, what Jesus died for, is Jesus God? And etc. After Four Gospels, Read the Epistles of St. Paul (Romans to Titus), then learn the letters of St. John, St. Peter, and The Book of Revelation.
We must be careful, for the heresies are coming out of Hollywood and the lies are being launched from pseudo-believers. We must saturate ourselves in God's Word/know the Bible, move in Holy Spirit, know Jesus Christ personally and use discernment. We must be on the alert! Waiting for Christ's Return and defending the True Faith found in the Holy Bible (KJV, NIV, NLT, ESV, NASB, and etc). Do not pay heed, read, or believe the Book of Mormon, The Q'uran, Jehovah Witness Bible, Gnostic gospels, or any other outside text that claims to have a new, different, or better revelation, prophecy, secret revelation or truth! We must stand firm and realize the "Great falling away from the faith" is at hand! Deceptions are coming not just from devilish companies, but deceived and duped individuals calling themselves Christians! Remember the words of the Apostle John, "Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour." (1 John 2:18). We are in last hour, for many anti-Christ have come and even still are among us through television programs, movies, music, and etc. It seems there is an anti-Christ around every corner! Our faith is assailed from outside by the enemies of Christ and from inside by those who fall into error, deception, heresy, and apostasy! Hold on to the True Faith in Jesus Christ according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and all the New Testament (NASB 1971, ESV, NKJV, NLT, Interlinear Bible)! Remember that Jesus Christ, Son of God, Messiah, Christ, Bridegroom and God in the flesh is the Truth! (John 14:6). Do not let anyone deceive you! "Test all things," with the Holy Scriptures (The Holy Bible) and the Holy Spirit. Develop a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and refuse to have anything to do with false christs that are created by cultists like The Mormons (Church of Ladder Day Saints), Jehovah Witnesses, Muslims, Buddhists, and many more who distort the Truth with the lies from fallen angels and fallen thinking of men.
