Lightning Hits Jesus Statue

In Brazil there is a famous statue of Jesus that towers on a hill. Well recently it was stuck by lightning which spurred many comments on the news comment section speculating what this could mean.

Honestly the most practical answer is it was a tall object in the vicinity of a lightning storm and thus was struck. But I believe Jesus our God who said “there will be signs in the heavens,” (Luke 21:25-26) and that this deserves some attention.

Many commentators claimed it was that God is angry, and struck the statue. Its interesting the first interpretation is God did it, perhaps because of verses where our Lord wields bolts, “Behold, He spreads His lightning about Him,

And He covers the depths of the sea” (John 36:30). However my mind went directly to Satan, “Jesus answered them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” (Luke 10:18). My mind instantly went to this could be a sign from Satan that he is soon going to raise up his antichrist and that what we are seeing as an erosion of Jesus’ teaching and values of the Bible in the West is now being confirmed as mockery from the evil one, that just as lightning bomt struck the statue of Jesus, the devil is waging a war against Christ, his people (us) and the morality of Christ in the culture wars that are engulfing every sector from Academia to Entertainment.  I mean now Pansexuality is in Star Wars via Merrin in Star Wars: Battle Scars.

Yes I believe Satan is the bolt of lightning, and his aim like the photo in brazil is to cover our Lord Jesus’ face with his false light, his deceptive light that leads men astray, for he disguised himself as an angel of light, “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14). We must heed this as a warning shot, that despite the spreading revival that has now reached ORU in Oklahoma, the enemy of our souls intends to obscure Christ, to lead people astray as he did Eve, “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). We must remember the devil hates God and he hates us because we look like God (Genesis 1:26) and so he is reminded of God when he sees us. We must be on guard, guarding our devotion to Jesus our Lord God and Savior. For he said He would be mocked (John 15:18) and when He returns will he find faith, “I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” (Luke 18:8). Make no mistake, the war did not end because of revivals at Asbury and beyond, in truth it just intensified because the Lord’s Army of Saints just got refreshed, R&R, and rededicated to the Kingdom. We need to be on alert, for the serpent slithers like the lightning bolt, poised to strike at Jesus & the Gospel, and his children.

Christ has defeated Satan, “But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil,” (1 John 3:8) “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,” (Romans 16:20), and shall burn him in the inferno, “And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever,” (Revelation 20:10), but this world which is fallen can be deceived by the the devil like a lightning bolt, and so we must take care to fight with the Scriptures, The Spirit, and Fruits of the Spirit against the Serpent!, “Therefore subject yourselves to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7), “Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering,” (1 Peter 5:8-9), and “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil's scheme” (Ephensians 6:11). For though Satan has lost the keys of death and hades, “Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.” (Hebrews 2:14. The devil can still wage war on this earth against us, and though he cannot destroy us who are in Lamb’s Book of Life, he can send troubles, tribulations, afflictions, famines and demons of torment to make our lives harder; because on Earth while we still have mortal bodies, he can work in world to do us hurt, but not harm, for we have eternal life and new bodies awaiting us through Christ. Amen.

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
