Abuse In The Church

Another scandal has broken out with children being preyed upon at a Christian school. It seems since the Catholic Sexual Abuse cases were exposed that it has almost been none stop scandals, with even the Southern Baptists being guilty and Hill Song’s Leader stepping down over sexual misconduct. The question that lingers in the mind is “why is this happening?!” followed by a distrust of the church as an institution and feeling that all moral authority  that was once held by christian churches and organizations is now no more. How are we to navigate this? How to keep defending something that keeps abusing the sheep? We start by not defending it. These great evils are being exposed because Jesus said they would, “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” (Luke 8:17).

The wolves in sheep’s clothing are being unveiled and their wickedness is to be punished, for they have made innocents stumble, which Christ says is grounds for drowning them, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea..” (Matthew 18:6). Jesus takes molestation seriously, saying drowning is the appropriate penalty for the sexual abuser, but worse, they shall also suffer punishment at Judgement Day, being thrown into a different lake, one of eternal fire for what they have done (Revelation 21:8).

What we are witnessing is judgment beginning at the household of God, “For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?” (1 Peter 4:7). Those who tried to hide their depravity are now facing the discipline of the Lord (Revelation 3:19).

These abusers have failed to do good, “here will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Greek; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” (Romans 2:9-10), and “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith” (Galatians 6:10). We are called to do good especially to those in the family of faith, but instead these abusers have taken advantage of innocence and defiled children!

These wicked abusers are foretold that they shall arise in last days, “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-8). In that list is abusive, unholy, lovers of without self control, lovers of pleasure rather than God, and having a form of godliness which does describe these wolves, these abusers in churches because they abuse the innocent, do unholy acts, have no self control which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:23), and the form of godliness is a Christian school, church or organization but denying its power because they defile it in their devilish abuses.

If one combs The Scriptures they will see these sexual abusers are condemned by Jesus and His Apostles. This is why we Protestants stick to the words of God as our authority. Our trust is not in institutions and fallible leaders, but in Our Lord Jesus Christ and The Scriptures. Amen.

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
