There is nothing quite like caroling. Singing songs about our Savior’s birth. Everyone has their favorites from “Noel” to “Joy to the World,” to “Silent Night.” These classic hymns reminds us that Christ came as we all do, humble, naked and needy. God stepped down from His throne and became human flesh so that He could grow up and die for our sins on the cross and raise from the dead. Jesus Christ are Lord and Savior is fully grown and in an adult body now, but He first came as child and this year it behooves us to think on the unborn. Abortion is the slaughtering of innocents. It is much like Herod who ordered that all children from two years and younger be slain (Matthew 2:16-18). Yes, Herod tried to post-birth abort Christ! Praise God he failed and Joseph was warned in a dream (Matthew 2:12). For those who are pro choice I want you to know that you are in Herod’s Camp, that the same spirit that motivates him is behind the abortion movement, and his name is Molech.
We celebrate the Son of God coming nto the world as a babe, how can then we participate in slaughtering babies? Do we want the mark of Herod? To be in his company?! God forbid. As Christ followers we are compelled to defend the unborn for our Lord was in the womb of Mary and Herod motivates by Satan, sought to stop the Savior’s life on that Silent Night. How many Peters, Paul’s, Marys, Joannas, and other godly disicples haven’t been given their first breath? The terrible truth is that Planned Parenthood would have tried to talk Mary into aborting Jesus! They would have tried to convince her to stop our Salvation from happening! Make no mistake, abortion is a Satanic power invented for “lovers of self,” (2 Timothy 3:2) who think only of their own ease and comfort. Once we believed a baby was sacred, formed by God in the womb, but now society treats them as product, to be cut up and sold for research. The moment we stop considering little life sacred and in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), the moment we lose our humanity and become beastly.
You might wonder what a pro-life rant has to do with carols. Well it had a lot to do with it. Jesus came into the world, He came as baby and He is life itself! (John 1:4-5). Whenever a child is born it comes from Christ who is life itself (Colossians 1:16-18, John 14:6) and who sustains all life (Colossians 1:17). To see a child is to see Christ and His handiwork and to remember He too become a babe. The cries of newborn were His own on Christmas night. And the cries of the unborn who are cut down in their mother’s bellies is like those of the children of Rachael crying out (Matthew 2:16-18) and like the babes in Egypt when Pharoah ordered all male children of Israel two to be slain (Exodus 1:22), Moses narrowly escaping.
