On November 2nd , 1935, a Geo-Political Moralist movement came to Belgium called Rexism. Rexism was a Catholic-Populist-authoritarian-nationalist and corporalist political party. The party derived its name from a Catholic publishing company called Rex, which is short for Christus Rexus (Christ the King). Rexism was partially based on the teachings of a man named Jean Denis. Unlike Fascism, Rexism promoted Corporalism, or guilds, breaking things down into groups of interests in the Government, and example being guild of agriculture and a guild of art. It was fiercely opposed to Liberalism, Marxism, and Capitalism, and instead emphasized rural community and traditional Family Values. Rexism wanted a clericalism to government, hence submission to the Catholic Church, and it emphasized that people shouldn't be pressed down by the 1% ruling class,. thus it bears some similarities to the post-modern Occupy Movement in the US. However, once the Nazis invaded and occupied Belgium in 1937, Rexists broke into two groups, those who aided the occupier and developed into a more radical fascism of Nazi vintage, and those who went underground because of blatant anticlericalism and anti-Semitism that was in stark opposition to Rexist beliefs of corporalism and traditional family values. Rexism developed under the Nazis into a radical fascist movement, and only the Rexists in Underground Resistance preserved the initial purity of their movement. However, despite their service in Resistance most of Rexists were executed, and by 1945 the Movement had ended.
Rexism bears some similarities to Papist political ideology in Elizabethan England, and political thought today. One could argue that in the United States, there is a type of Evangelical Rexism taking place, especially with the Advent of Network Christianity in Washington, D.C. which believes through politics and government it can create a Christian society, culture, and country without preaching the Gospel. Rexism claimed to be a "Right Wing Revolution," not to dissimilar to what many politicians are espousing and doing now with the current Administration in Washington D.C. who happen to be Right Wing too. I bring up Rexism not as an ideal theocratic-political movement. Rather, I believe that we should learn from history. Right now in the United States, there is a Resurgent Rexism, of the Evangelical kind, and while it may seem to benefit people of the Right Wing persuasion, I fear that as happened with the Rexists, the Evangelical Rexists might come under a New Nazism, meaning if a foreign power was to invade the United States, or rather political movement in the U.S.A. akin to Nazism was to rise, it could easily consume the Network Christianity, and create a political fascism that would lay a dark age over America for decades. Men are content to believe that can change the world with the politica, but politics rarely wins souls, especially because most people cannot understand the jargon, it took me searching the meaning of Falagrism, Corporalism, and etc to understand Rexism. What we need as people is not political, but spiritual. We need Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, who can transform us (Romans 12:2), and lead us into all Truth (John 16:13, John 14:6, John 1:17).
The Future Reign of our Lord and King of Kings Jesus Christ will not be Rexism. Rexism failed because it sought to submit to the Pope, and the Papacy, as well as administer a man made political régime of Nationalism. When Christ comes back, He will reign not with a pope, or man made political ideologies, but He being God and Incarnate (Man) will reign as the King of Kings, and with a rod of iron (Revelation 19:11-16). The Papacy is a religious-populist-political seat of power in Vatican City, its Canons (laws) are man made and said to be from God when they aren't (see Mark 7:8, Mark 7:13). Rexism was going to fail without the Nazis, because it was divided against itself, it was nationalist, and wanted to give Belgium power, and yet was make the Catholic Church its ruler which has its own interests. When Christ Returns, His Government will not be flawed and man made, For He is God (Colossians 2:9), and without sin (1 Peter 2:22, Hebrews 4:15). The One Thousand Years of Christus Rexus, will be to fulfill the many prophecies of Jesus being the Son of David and King that reigns without end, and it will be an interim period before the final battle (Revelation 20:5-10), and before the New Jerusalem descends, and Christ burns away the Earth and the Heavens, and Creates a New Earth and New Heaven (Revelation 21:1-53, 2 Peter 3:1-28).
Our Lord and God Jesus Christ isn't going to manipulate man made politics, but is bringing His own Rule and Authority that is without error and folly. He being a God of Love (1 John 4:8), and Justice (John 1:17) will rule forever and ever. Amen. The only form of Rexism that we should even entertain is to pray that Jesus Comes quickly:
"And he *said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11 Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.”
12 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David and the heir to his throne, the bright morning star.”
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen." (Revelation 21:10-21).
Interestingly, there was a period of Israel's history when God was the ruler. The LORD God was king, prophets were like the House, and Judges like the Senate. However, the people of Israel wanted a man for a king, which grieved God, and the result was Saul, first King of Israel. You can read the entire event in 1 Samuel Chapter 8 to 1 Samuel Chapter 15. In it Samuel the Prophet relates from LORD to people that they will be enslaved to their king, and he will take their daughters and grain, and tax the people. Thankfully, the same Lord God who is Jesus will come and change it back to a tax less society and God Incarnate will reign! AMEN.
