Star Wars Spirituality Examined

Star Wars is a saga that has captivated audiances for past two decades. The story of Nazi Empire in space versus a Allied Forces Rebellion combined with the mystical Force and path of Jedi monks made this saga a smashing hit. While many books have endeavored to explore the spirituality of this saga, I shall give an abridged walkthrough the mysteries of the Force.

The Force was invented by Joseph Campbell, a prominate philsopher who wrote on The Hero Cycle. The Hero Cycle  follows a hero's evolution: first he is discovered by a mentor to teach him (Merlin), then the mentor perishes or leaves, the hero fights a evil that is physical like Grendal the monster, then the hero faces a spiritual evil that requires more than brute strength, then he must face the evil in himself, and then he becomes the mentor to another hero continuing the cycle. When Joseph was approached by George Lucas to create the Force, the goal was to make a supernatural-cosmic-spirituality that anyperson in the movie theater could call their own, seeing their faith in this Force (universalism). This essentially was a powerful way to unite religions under one fictious Force (now it is bonefied religion called Jedism, Australia has 100,000 Force worshippers, more on this later.) Lucas seemed to stray from this with His Prequel Trilogy which shifted from "Is the Dark Side stronger? No, quicker, more seductive," to "bring balance to the Force." George's Yin and Yang, and Zoroastrian Force already existed in tje classic trilogy,  remember Joseph Campbell made a religion for everyone, George was simply trying to pull Shinto, Hindu, Buddist, and Zorastrian teachings from it. The  truth about Jedi and Sith, those who practice the two sides of the Force, Light and Dark, is distrubing upon deeper investigation. Descending into deep lore and even details in the films of the franchise, we discover not only a universalism or post-modern message, but New Age, Occultism, and antichrist sympathies.

Lets start from the beginning. A long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far away... The Jedi were once tribes called Je'daii who learned the ways of the Forceon their   homeworld of Tython. They commanded the Force as humaniod lifeforms and adhered to one side of this power, Ashla or The Light Side. Among the Je'daii a sect began to practice Bogan or The Dark Side of the Force. Due to Dark Side's destructive nature, the new Dark Siders were banished in a great schism. The Dark Siders found refuge on the planet Korriban where they taught a red skinned race called the Sith their  mysteries, and evetually a class of the Dark Siders subjected the Sith and made them slaves, taking the title Dark Lord of the Sith or Sith Lord. The Je'daii order had been tribal and spread their teachings through families and children, but the schism had proved the dangers of family members becoming Dark Siders lusting for power, and so the Je'daii eventually forbid attatchments, marriage, and procreation, becoming celebate monks and nuns known as the Jedi.

The Jedi and Sith philosphies do contain major New Age and Occultic teachings. Master Obi-Wan Kenobi said this of the Force, "Well, the Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together." (Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope). Energy is what New Ageists call the power they wield, and Master Yoda connects this energy to nature, which is also New Age, "For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship."(The Empire Strikes Back). This is a New Age teaching, having humans connected to an invisible energy field and to nature via some impersonal Force of mystical power that goes out into the Universe is New Age for Dummies. It is at this point Lucas chose to enforce a particular religion in the Star Wars canon. The New Age continues with the Jedi teaching becoming "One with the Force," which as aforementioned is a mystical field of energy not a diety, and this goal of Jedi only becomes more evident when Force Ghosts appear (more on them later). The Jedi's weapon, the Lightsaber is a energy sword comprised of Katana shaped hilt and handle with a beam of light that can cut through anything and when it makes contact with metal or organic matter it leaves lava like burn marks that cool quickly. A lightsaber cannot cut through another Lightsaber, and the invention of this weapon by the Jedi changed combat forever. While mysteries of how a lightsaber works was hidden for decades, it was revealed in Legends and a Canon epsiode of The Clone Wars that a crystal is connected to an emitter and other parts that make it work. The crystal's color effects blade color, strength, and style of the lightsaber blade.

It was revealed in the Clone Wars episode (Canon) and Legends that a Jedi must embue a crystal with The Force, meditating on the Crystal to make it powerful and one with a Jedi. 

This practice of using crystals for power and mediation is straight out of New Age teachings. New Ageists use crystals for protection, pray, and power. New Ageist practice White Magic and fight against the Dark Magic users who do sacrifices, betray one another, kill, and destroy, sound familiar?, indeed Black Magic users or Occultists are very similiar to the Sith. 

The Sith and Dark Siders use their powers to crush, manipulate, dominate, and control others. The verse, "the thief  comes to kill, steal, and destroy..," (John 10:10) sums the Sith up nicely. Upon closer inspection Sith are called acolytes of darkness, a term Jambres and Jamboree were called in Old Testament (see 2 Timothy). Sith also are involved in conjuring the dead known as Necromancy, at their Tombs and Sith Holocons, this talking to the dead and conjuring them is forbidden in Scripture, "Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the LORD your God," (Leviticus 19:31), and "I will also turn against those who commit spiritual prostitution by putting their trust in mediums or in those who consult the spirits of the dead. I will cut them off from the community," (Leviticus 20:6).  The Sith follow a cult of death, the Rule of Two by Darth Bane and seen in the films stipulates a Sith Lord train an apprentice until said apprentice becomes so powerful he or she must strike their master down with "all their hate." In Occultism black magic users vie and fight for power, even killing each other to gain more power (like the Highlander films). 

The Sith possess antichrist symbols. Kylo Ren possesses a cross  lighsaber, which is really an upside down cross, a symbol of antichrist and Satanism. In fact, the opening scene of The Force Awakens features a planet Full of light being overshadowed by a black star destoyer and on the front nose of thexstar destroyer is an upsidedown cross (see pic/clip below). In addition a core tenant of the Sith is Passion, which Christ's death on the cross is called The Passion. This obviously is meant to be sacrelligious and to mock our Savior. The Dark siders also possess the only red lightsabers, which is the color of Christ's blood, and yet the Sith follow Satan's teachings, "kill, steal, destroy." The Sith also teach anger gives a force user power, when the Bible says, "because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires," (James 1:20) and, "Don't befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul." (Proverbs 22:24-25). In addition, the opening scene of "The Force Awakens" features a planet of light being eclipsed by a star destroyer with an upside-down cross (see pic/clip below).

The Jedi use colors of New Age, blues and greens (lighsaber colors), browns and whites (white is main Jedi tunic and leggings, white is the highest spirit color of New Age) which are colors of the earth, meant to be connected to Mother Earth, a part of New Age theology. While the Jedi esposes seemingly Judeo-Christian values like Peace and Serve others, they preach peace at the expense of procreation, violating both Jewish and  Christian teaching, "be fruitful and multiply, and subdue the earth," (Genesis 1:28) and, ".They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth,"(1 Timothy 4:3).In addition Jedi do not pray, they mediate in Hindu and Buddist pose, but commune with the New Age Force. The Jedi when they die become Force Ghosts that come back to communicate with living Force users, something forbidden in Scripture (see Leviticus 20:6, Leviticus 19:31, Leviticus 20:27).

Magic is medium and soul of the Force. Joseph Campbell's Hero Cycle and George Luca's writings were heavily imfluenced by Arthurian legend which has a legendary sword Excalibur being passed down, in Star Wars this is Anakin's lightsaber, and magical mentors like Merlin teaching white magic like Oni-Wan & Yoda, and Morgan le Fey teaching black magic like The Emperor, Darth & Darth Vader. The Lord tells us to have nothing to do with magic, "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD; because of these same detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so." (Deuteronomy 18:10-14).

Lets examine some of the Force powers Force Push, which allows a Jedi or Sith to throw someone backward or into the air by pointing hand. This can be foundin  Black Belt martial arts, Bruce Lee could do it and it involves demons who are real culprits throwing the person. Force Cjoke and Grip where a Sith points a hand at someone and they begin choking is a Satanic power that Witches, Warlocks, Wizards, and etc use via demons to harm people. Force Heal appears at first to be a Gift of the Holy Spirit, Gift of Healing (1 Corintians 12:30) until it is revealed the Jedi call out to the Force, and do New Age practices by using tree bark, crystals, and plants. The Jedi Mind truck and Dominate Mind powers violate these verses, "God has not given you a spirit of fear, but love, power, and sound mind (disciplined mind)," (2 Timothy 1:7), "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ," (2 Corinthians 10:5), "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will," (Romans 12:2), and "fruit of spirit is.. self control." (Galatians 5:23). Controlling someone's mind is called mindcraft and it is malevolent and Satanic. Force Lightning is a Sith power and it mocks God of whom it says, "From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God," (Revelation 4:5), and "He fills his hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark." (Job 36:32). Satanists like Satan and Sith want to be gods and as powerful as the Lord God (see Isaiah 14). Force powers are actually spells which the Bible forbids us to practice (Deuteronomy 18:10-14). 

The Force is not Judeo-Christian, but mostly New Age and Occult mixed with some Shaolin, Hindu, and Zorastrian elements. This rasies major concerns forcus as Christians being involved in Star Wars. Some may say, itscjust fiction, what's the harm? The Apostle Paul says, "Abstain from the appearance of evil." (1 Thessalonians 5:22, KJV). In addition Jesus says, "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." (John 15:19). Also The Force and Jedi have become a religion called Jedism, so it is no longer just fiction. Believers In Jedism believe The Force is real and they practice it, they adhere to Light. Jedism is a new sect of New Age religion. So now if yo particpate in Jedi and the Force forvfun and fiction you are essentially endorsing the religion of Jedism, predispositoning yourself to New Age as well as others. The Apostle Paul says, "hate what is evil, cling to what is good." (Romans 12:9). Only God is good (Mark 10:18), and The Force of Star Wars is evil because New Age is a religion  of the evil one (Satan). Paul says, "Satan masqauardes as angel of light," (2 Corinthians 11:14) which is how he appears to Free Masons and New Ageists. To the Occultists and Dark Siders he appears as he really is, "the thief who comes to kill, steal, and destroy," (John 10:10); the Occultists kill animals and people  with weapons and blak magic, and they destroy families with curses (antiprayers) and steal money and more from evem each other other mention Christians. So when Lucas choose to add the Balance idea to the Force, it works because Satan contols both Jedi and Sith; New Age and Occult/White and Black Magic. 

Jesus says of Jedism, New Age, Occultism, and more, "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." (Revelation 21:8).
Playing with magic both literally and ficticiously is dangerious. True converts from white and black magic did this, "And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver (est. millions in today's currency)." (Acts 19:19). Simon the Sorcerer who tried to buy the Gift of the Holy Spirit to add to his mystical practices was told by Petet, "But Peter replied, "May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God's gift can be bought!" (Acts 8:20). The soothsayer woman was confronted by Paul, "One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a demon-possessed slave girl. She was a fortune-teller who earned a lot of money for her masters. She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her." (Acts 16:16,18). The laws of Moses state not to practice sny magic of any kind (see Deuteronomy 18:10-14), and the punishment for practicing any kind of magic was death, "A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads." (Leviticus 20:27) Anything not promoted in the Holy Bible and sanctioned by it and the Holy Spirit is wicked, evil, sinful, and grounds for the Second Death of Hell (Revelation 21:8). So burn any books on witchcraft, sorcery, and magic; even fictions like Harry Potter. If you have dabbled in Occult, New Age, Yoga, Magic, and more; repent, ask Jesus Christ to forgive you, believe Jesus is God and Savior, and believe God raisec Him from the Dead (Romans 10:9-10). 

Star Wars is a 'force' to be reckoned with it. Its charm, power, and allure testify to its deep roots in New Age, Gnosticism, Illuminati, Masons, Occult, Catharism, Nestoriaism, Shintoism, Assenes, and more. Great story telling combined with sorcery makes Star Wars have a 'magical' appeal.' The Force is strong with the Star Wars Saga, but it is a 'force' for New Age, Satanism, Occultism, and other religions while being antichrist: "only a Sith deals in absolutes," (Obi-Wan, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of Sith), and yet what we believe as Christians is an absolute: "I am the only Truth, Way, and Life, none can come to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6). Fans of this billion dollar franchise find themselves either in New Age clutches of Jedi or the Occultist auspices of the Sith. The devil slithers in through the beautiful side of evil, and scores of adults and children are "bound" by this franchise and its Force. The time has come to break free of the Jedi Order, and serve Jesus Christ with your mind, body, and strength. (Matthew 22:27).
