Modern Mutants

 

 

The human race is mutating. We are becoming a new species. We once were an organic matter with a spirit and soul (mind and emotions) that was designed by the One True God. When the Almighty made this creation, this Adam (Human 1.0) and then later Eve (Human 2.0) He said, "This is very good." (Genesis 1:31). Then this Creation made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) made a choice to "eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." (Genesis 3:6). The result of this decision altered Human hardware, our designed was infected with a virus called Sin and the result was that the world's perfection was lost, paradise was lost; our bodies would perish, and enmity and distrust between man and all creation would be sown, as well as fear because of man's insecurity, an animal had to be killed for clothing (Genesis 3:21), and later animals would be used for sacrifice to assuage sin.

Man and Woman was mutated by Sin. We were changed and made slaves to impulses contrary to "our nature" and to "God's Will". Immediately the world plunged into darkness, as murder was invented (Cain and Abel, Genesis 4), fornications of every kind, even with animals (Exodus 22:19 proving a law had to be made against it), and every kind of wickedness was devised from the minds of man who now was a hybrid; a Human organism that carried a disease that infects everything. This sin virus also gave man something in return for its ravaging effects on body, soul, and even spirit. Man gained, "knowledge" as the Tree in Eden was named, but the price was spiritual death: "sin separates us from God" (Isaiah 59:2), intellectual death: "for the Fear of God is the source of all wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10), and physical death: "For man is appointed to die once and then judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

We had become mutations. Sin altered our design, our inner hardware was infected with thinking that defiles and destroys us, impulses and desires that lead us far from God and what is best for our bodies, souls, and spirits. We are born with the virus, the disease, the first mutation known as sin that is contrary to what the Creator intended. We could not escape it, for it is wired within us upon conception. Thankfully, the Great Creator, The Programmer, and Maker of All Things found a way to cure our virus; to purge its power over us and to make the Creation one with the Creator once more. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ in the flesh, taking on the matter; the body tainted with the impulses and desires to sin, but He was perfect; never sinning (Hebrews 4:15, 2 Corinthians 5:21) and He died on the cross for all our sins, whipping all hardrives (hearts, mind, and emotions), our bodies, and our spirit of the disease of sin with His blood and death (Colossians 2:14) and resurrection from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:4). If we believe in Jesus, He reprograms us, taking out the virus of Sin with its mutations and placing Himself in us and resurrecting the design we were intended to be; but even more so, because now God lives in us (1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 John 4:12).

At last the mutation was curbed and man through Jesus Christ can be restored, renewed, and transformed into "children of God" again (Galatians 3:26). But alas, a new mutation and infection has been born. An offspring that now seeks to be the Second Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. This new virus is technology. People are becoming mutated in their minds by technology. People are more disconnected than ever, even through they have all these devices to connect. People spend their time on tablets, computer, and smartphones more than in presence of people and God. As a result the thinking processes of people are altering, they are now responding like computer with systematic responses. A computer has prescribed way you get information, you have to read all seven pages to figure out what you must do or to diagnosis what is wrong with you. If a human tells a human their problem, the other human can with wisdom and training tell you to bypass pages 1-6, and do what is on page 7 and you will be cured.

Unfortunately, people are now responding like the computer. Instead of relating to a person and helping on the level the person needs, which can just be listening and not trying to fix the problem; they act like machines. When someone says they are depressed, people respond, "I'll look up on Wikipedia remedies or they cite that step one thru step fifteen is how to be cured." But the problem is this is not compassion or relating. If the depressed person wanted to look up information on depression, they too have computer and have ability to find out. Maybe so many are depressed, because they have been mutated by technology and taught to treat each other like machines without feelings or to respond to all problems like a machine, instead of purely being the relational creation God made!

Much of the mutating is already underway. Entire generations are now "plugged into the Matrix" and unlike Neo, they don't want to disconnect from their constant source of information, intellect (knowledge), and instant gratification and security. Technology is a tool that is making mankind cyborgs, who cannot manage without it. People carry phones in their pockets, run home to their computer or TVs, or even now have the Google Glasses or iWatch to stay plugged in 24/7. The result is that man is now becoming machine. People don't have patience for each other, because now they flip out a phone or device to pass the time when they are in line. People who are bored talking with a spouse or friend at food chain like Mimi's Café can get their phones out and watch Netflix.

The more we plug in, the more we mutate. The more we plug in, the more God's presence feels absent and our being 'present' with people diminishes. We don't have patience to sit quietly without a device and listen to the Divine Creator's words. We don't have the desire to sit with dear friend with no noise of TVs, headphones, or other machines raging in the background. We have been mutated and our enemy knows it. We were so preoccupied with the convenience and benefits technology would bring, that we never considered the dangers. As Ian Malcom said, "your scientists were so preoccupied with if they could, they never stopped to ask if they should." (Jurassic Park, 1993).

We have so becoming mechanical in thinking, that free will, deductive reasoning, and common sense are almost lost. We are taught to peddle, regurgitate, and espouse what those who are in media and academia say. We have become 'drones' for the doctrines of demons and their disciples. Instead of pausing and thinking about if what we just heard is correct, we immediately share it and support it because it came from a wise person and a person we respect. The Bible says, "do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind," (Romans 12:2) and "let the Spirit renew your mind and attitudes, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created righteousness and holiness of the Truth" (Ephesians 4:23, NLT).

The tool to reprogram us back into the Image of God is the Holy Bible, the Scriptures. In the words inspired by the Holy Spirit there is healing for the hardware in our skull and the software of our soul and spirit. Through Scripture and God's Spirit we can stop the mutation and be made into Man and Woman Again! We can be what even those plugged in crave, to be loved creations of a Creator God and to be loved by other people. God manifests His love Through Jesus Christ! The reprogramming we need is not in religion, outside rules and rites invented by men. This is another prison, another mutation that perverts God's Image to us. No, it is a relationship with God who is Jesus Christ, and with other people. The relationship with God has guidelines, like any relationship, there are boundaries, and God's boundaries for a good relationship with us is in the Bible. Then with the Boundaries Book (The Bible) we connect, we lean on the Holy Spirit to find out Spirit of the Law, not the Letter. We need discernment on boundaries with God and with people. As Townsman and Cloud says in their bestseller "Boundaries", "Boundary less people who discover boundaries often create a castle, and keep everyone out with their walls. But really we need walls with our boundaries and a gate, to let the bad out and the good in."

Obviously boycotting technology in the "Tech Age" is impossible for most, save some very zealous Hermits who want to emulate the "Desert Fathers." For the rest of us, here is the balance. Unplug and Renew your Mind with the Word of God, relate to Jesus personally in a quite prayer time, and spend time with People in ways that do not put technology between you and them. Take a break. Use technology for positive reasons like research, to keep in touch with people (phone calls, facebook, and etc), and to write as I do on blog, post on social media, and the myriad of other good things like the Bible App to Skyping a friend in another country. Technology which seeks to mutate us is not the enemy, it is mutating that is evil. Just like Neo in the Matrix realized, the Machines are evil, they mutates people and uses them like batteries through the Matrix (technology), but Neo found a way to hijack the Matrix and using it he set people free from the machines and lead them to Zion and to God (allegorically).

To counterbalance the plan to mutate you with technology into cyborgs, you need to be in Christ daily and to renew your mind in His Word (The Holy Bible, Scriptures), and to personally relate to Christ and people (both believer and unbeliever alike). To fight the radical mutating power of technology, the answer is relating, having a relationship with God and people. Putting aside the smartphone to commune with the Savior and to spend time with your loved ones. The answer as St. Paul said is, "all things in moderation," (Philippians 4:5, 1 Corinthians 9:25 Paraphrase) and St. Augustine building on this said, "abstinence is easy, balance is hard."

To be clear the "all things" does not mean sin, that is the other mutation remember. We do not want to leave the mutation of technology to go back to the original one that is sin.
