Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary, and Mary?

There are many Mary's in the Bible. There is Mary, Jesus' Mother, there is Mary Magdalene, There is Mary the Harlot, Mary the Wife of Clopas, Mary who is Martha and Lazarus' sister. Confused yet? Well that is why I have decided to dedicate this post as the Mary Memory post. Let us start with Jesus' mother. Mary: The Madonna, Holy Mother Mary was Jesus' mother. When she was a young maiden and still a virgin (knew not any man, Joseph was her bethrothed, but Jews had a strict observance of abstinence tell marriage). When Mary was soon to marry Joseph, the Angel Gabriel appeared to her and told her, "You have found favor with God. You shall bare a son, and you shall call him Jesus (Yeshua), and He shall be the Son of God. To which Mary responded, "but I have not known any man (had sex)," and Gabriel responded, "The Power of the holy Spirit shall overshadow you and you shall conceive a Son." Mary responds, "I am the Lord's se...

St. Peter and St. Paul: The Apostle Peter and Apostle Paul

St. Peter and St. Paul/ The Apostle Peter and The Apostle Paul: The Two Great Apostles. Peter was the one who receive the Revelation, "You are the Christ, The Messiah, the Son of the Living God." (Matthew 16:16). Peter's revelation from Father is important because all three titles define Jesus in all cultures, Son of God in understanding of Jews is any Jew, but to Gentiles it is deity who is son of deity like Hercules. Messiah to Jews was Warrior King like David, A Deliverer like Moshe (Moses). And Christ means the "Anointed One." St. Paul wrote most of the New Testament and reached the Gentile Nations (Greeks, Scythians, Romans, and many others) for Jesus Christ. These two mighty men of the Messiah were the like two pillars of building the Church, St. John and St. James being the other pillars and who had an especial gift to reach the Jews for Jesus. Interestingly, two of largest churches in world proclaim heritage and connection to these two Apostle...

Identitiy

Everyone is seeking an identity. Many find it in what they do, their job and career. Some find their identity in another person and family. Other find identity in churches or clubs. The Majority find their identity in fantasy, wither it be devised from Hollywood or Hallmark Channel. From movie reels to Renaissance Faires, people are seeking an identity. The Entertainment industry has a majority of people finding their identity in fiction. Many flock to movies, play video games, and evne listen to music to escape and build their identity around this escapism. Many Christians are part of the demographics (demongraphics) who spend their time building identities at work, in wonderlands like Middle Earth, and so on. But should Christ followers find their identity in what they do or like to do? Should our identity come from our career and the comic book characters? The answer is no. Our identity should be found in Jesus Christ alone. Everything around us is a lie. To use pop culture...

Old Testament and New Testament God

Moses and Jesus God's character is consistent throughout the Old and New Testaments. He is loving God. He is a God of Life. People often remark when they read Old Test that the Lord is a cruel and war like God. They cite the sacrifices in Temple as pagan, but honestly those sacrifices were men's ideas, and God went along with it because "they weaker in faith," (Romans 14:1-3) and by the way those lambs, bulls, and pigeons after being sacrificed for sin, were then cooked and eaten by the priests (the only food they got). So it wasn't like the animal was just thrown aside after. The Psalmist David, A Man after God's own Heart said in a moment of revelation, "you do not delight in sacrifices do you Lord? You do not want the blood of bulls and lambs, but instead broken and contrite (repentant) heart." (Psalm 51:16-17). The Prophet Samuel says something similar about sacrifices when addressing King Saul's disobedience, He says, "Does the...

Spiritual War

We are in Spiritual War. This war has waged since Eden, and shall end on Judgment Day. Until then we are must do battle with the "principalties, thrones, powers of this present darkness." (Ephesians 6:12). Unfortunately, many ministries have made is difficult for people to get delivered and do battle against the demons. Exorcists and eminent deliverance ministers have made such a spectical of the supernatural, that many saints and believers are afraid of ever addressing the issue of demonic possession and oppression. The good news is that the War is won. Jesus Christ has conquered the devil () and set the captives free. The Lord has given us power over "serpents and scorpions," and "The authority to bind and loose anything in heaven and on earth." (). The Great Commission of Mark's Gospel says, "Go forth and make disciples baptizing them in the Name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. Heal the sick, caste out demons, and raise the dea...

Keeping Focus

So often we can lose our focus. The problems and powers of this world rob us of peace and take up our precious time. I am going to be honest, I am weary of knowing my enemy. I think Deliverance in the Church has an important place and is Biblical, but it can get to point that you are exasperated. "Knowing your enemy," wither it be person or demonic power can become exhausting. Suddenly you find yourself spending all your time studying how spirit can get someone or how some serious soldiers of fanaticism must be stopped. What happens is information overload and sense that something is not quite right. The Bible says, "we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus," (Romans 8:31-39)and that "greater is He who is in us, than he who is in the world." (1 John 4:4). And yet despite these two verses and plethora of other scripture, many servants of the Lord find themselves in performance caught up in some system of chasing spirits away or committee trying...

What Blaspheming the Holy Spirit Really Is: According to Scripture

Shortly after Jesus Christ called the Twelve Disciples he entered a house. It says in Gospel of Mark, "Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples not even able to eat. When His (Jesus') family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." (Mark 3:20:21). It struck me that Jesus' own family, his sisters and brothers via Mary and Joseph had come to rebuke him and call him crazy! Have you ever experienced this in your own family? Has the Lord called you in faith to do something and the reaction is exactly like this scripture, your family comes to "take charge" of you and claim with psychiatric authority that you "are out of your mind?" If it was not enough for Jesus to have his relatives rebuke him, the good old 'pietistic' Pharisees show up on the scene and say, "He is possessed by Beelzebulb! Buy the prince of demons he driving out demons." ...
