A new native American translation of the Bible has been published. called “First Nations Translation.”Christianity Today is plugging this translation, and this is to their eternal downfall. This First Narions translation is false, it claims the Great Spirit the pagan Native Americans worshipped is the same God of Israel, who is The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Firstly this is who the Great Spirit is:
“The Great Spirit is the concept of a life force, a Supreme Being or god known more specifically as Wakan Tanka in Lakota,[1][need quotation to verify] Gitche Manitou in Algonquian, and by other, specific names in a number Native American and First Nations cultures.
Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka can be interpreted as the power or the sacredness that resides in everything, resembling some animistic and pantheistic beliefs. This term describes every creature and object as wakȟáŋ ("holy") or having aspects that are wakȟáŋ.[8] The element Tanka or Tȟáŋka corresponds to "Great" or "large".
Manitou, akin to the Iroquois orenda, is perceived as the spiritual and fundamental life force by Algonquian peoples. It is believed by practitioners to be omnipresent; manifesting in all things, including organisms, the environment, and events both human-induced and otherwise.[12] Manifestations of Manitou are also believed to be dualistic, and such contrasting instances are known as aashaa monetoo ("good spirit") and otshee monetoo("bad spirit") respectively. This is akin to Zorastianism which has Ahura Mazda (the good god) and Angra Mainz(the bad god)
The Anishinaabe culture, descended from the Algonquian-speaking Abenaki and Cree, inherited the Great Spirit tradition of their predecessors. Gitche Manitou (also transliterated as Gichi-manidoo) is an Anishinaabe languageword typically interpreted as Great Spirit, the Creator of all things and the Giver of Life, and is sometimes translated as the "Great Mystery". Historically, Anishinaabe people believed in a variety of spirits, whose images were placed near doorways for protection.” (The Great Spirit, Wikipedia)
All three versions of The Great Spirit contradicts the Lord God’s description. Tanka is like The Force in Star Wars with animism, Manitou is two dualistic gods of good and evil which is more akin to Zoroastrianism which has dualistic deities of good and evil known as Ahura Mazda, and Angra Mainyu, and finally Anishnaabe and the spirits that have icons that protect its followers sounds like Eastern Orthodoxy, especially since Anishnaabe means The Great Mystery and the Orthodox call their faith a Mysterione or Mystery, plus they have icons of protection like the Natives who follow Anishnaabe. As I have proven in “Beware of Icons” and “Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy Examined,” Eastern Orthodoxy is a false Christianity, not True Biblical Christianity.
The Great Spirit is not The Holy Spirit. The Great Spirit is not Jesus Christ (The Son). The Great Spirit is not The Father. The Great Spirit is a pagan god, a false god and to mix it with the true God of Israel in a Bible translation is blasphemy, apostasy, and exactly what Paul warned could happen!:
“But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it too easily!” (2 Corinthians 11:2-4). Its like Paul was foretelking this First Nations Translation, when he says “if you receive a different Spirit than the one you received, you put up with it too easily.”
We worship and follow the God of Israel, which is translated LORD in our Bibles, but is written as Y’WH (Yahweh), Jehovah, which means God of Israel. He is distinct, and we declare Jesus is Lord see Romans 10:9, Philippians 2:4-11), which is God of Israel! The Great Spirit is not the God of Israel! We serve the True Triune God who is the God of Israel, the I AM and Almighty God!
This First Nations Bible is preaching another gospel and another god, mixing Native Paganism with the Scriptures.
Look at their translation of John 3:16:
“The Great Spirit loves this world of human beings so deeply he gave us his Son, the only Son who represents Him.” (First Nations Version)
True Translation: “For God [Theos, same word used in I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, Matthew 22:32] so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
The Son doesn’t represent nor was sent by the Great Spirit, The Son is sent byGod the Father (Abba), and He is One with The Father, “I and the Father are One [Homoousion, same in being, same in essence', from ὁμός, homós, "same" and οὐσία, ousía, "being" or "essence]” (John 10:30), and “When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.”(John 17:2-12). Jesus Christ The Son of God doesn’t represent the Father like some diplomat, He is the fullness of the Godhead, God, and Deity in body, “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity [Godhead] lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9), and “The Preeminence of Christ
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” (Colossians 1:15-20)
Jesus is not just some representative of God, He is God and One with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Beware of Native American Spiritism and this awful First Nation translation that attempts to distort the Scriptures with Native Pagan beliefs! A curse on it as Paul says to!, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse.” (Galatians 1:8-9)
This First Nations Version is exactly what the apostle foretold via the Holy Spirit, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear,” (2 Timothy 4:3), “Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1), and “So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths (fables).” (2 Timothy 4:4). Do not be seduced by the First Nation Fables mixed into Scripture! Reject this erroneous and heterodox translation! Amen.
