The Purpose of Prayer

The line from Casting Crowns song is haunting, "What if people prayed?" Today, many Christians barely allot five minutes a day to pray. More and more saints have ceased offering supplication on a routine basis. This is a shame because prayer is the way we connect with Christ. Prayer is an double-edged sword. It is meant to open our hearts to our Heavenly Father and hew down the evil hordes in the spiritual realm. The devil and his legions hate when Christians pray. Prayer is power, it is capable of thwarting the enemy camp and changing our circumstances. Through prayer believers can receive boons from above, but more importantly prayer can change us.

Prayer is broken down into different dynamics. The first dynamic is confession, which can be repenting or telling the Lord what weights on your heart and mind. The second is supplication, which is a petition or to humbly ask God for something. The third is praise, which can be sung as an act of thanksgiving or gratefulness to the Lord. The fourth is intercession, which means to intercede or pray on the behalf of another person or persons. The fifth is warfare, which is to pray specifically against the devil and evil people (featured often in the Psalms). There are other forms of prayer, but these are definitely in the Bible.

Below I have pasted a compliment of Bible Verses regarding prayer. The following verses testify that prayer is not only important, but

Mark 11:24

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Philippians 4:6-7

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. “Because you have said, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,’

It is evident that praying is important and that it can "move mountains." Back in Medieval Times, Christians prayed frequently throughout the day. In fact, prayer was popular during the time of knights and kings. Pilgrimages were created for people to go to shrines and offer supplication. Today, we are so distracted by the technologies. We aren't still enough to speak with the Almighty and hear his voice. In contrast, those in Islam are praying as a unified people five times a day! We Christians who have been endowed with the truth can barely squeeze in five minutes! The Church has become so divided by differences that it would be impossible to get every denomination of Christianity to pray at the same time everyday.

It's not surprising that offering supplication is ceasing. Satan doesn't want the saints speaking with their Savior and sending his sentries screaming into the shadows. The devil has deliberately divided Christ's disciples so that they cannot defeat their adversaries. It's time that we as Christians start praying and stop playing! Sacrifice some time from your video game, movie, or social networking to socialize with your Saviour! Let your spirit man drink again and stop making exuses not to pray. Stop talking and start praying! Idle talk gets nothing done, but praying can change the world!

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
