I Still Believe (2002) Movie Review

I want to first state that I was Jeremy Camp fan. I had three of his albums and even saw him live in concert and heard him tell the story of Melissa, his first wife who got cancer, so going into this movie I had an invested interest perhaps that many may not have. I want to say the ministry of Melissa's testimony that has reached millions about the Purpose of Suffering and Death is a noble one, and I often get really frustrated that in our Protestant Churches the false Kenneth Copeland message of "you are not healed because you do not have enough faith," as if faith is some magical elixir or ability to manipulate God to do what we want. So I found the subject matter of this film to be refreshing, and much needed in the Reformed churches that have lost sight of Jesus' words, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." (John 16:33). The...

New Pope New Hope! Pope Leo XIV Elected!

A New Pappa has been elected! The First ever American Pope, Pope Leo XIV has become the Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church! This is a historic moment! He is a Conservative, which means he is a Traditionalist and will likely not follow in Pope Francis' more progressive path. The name Leo means Lion, and it is my supreme hope that he will show forth the Lion of Judah (Revelation 5:5) side of Jesus, and deal with the corruption and scandals that have rocked the Church of Rome in recent years!  His first words were to emphasize, "God loves all without prejudice," and that "evil will not prevail," and "that missionary work is the call he is making." So it is clear that he is man who feels the Great Commission is key, which makes sense since he was Missionary to Peru. He made mention of Charity (love in action) many times, which alludes to the Apostle James' words of, "   What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith...

Conclave (2024) Review

With an actual Conclave about to happen to elect a New Pope after the passing Pope Francis I, I thought I would see the film that would give some insight into how the Papal Throne will be filled once more. I have to commend that this movie is riveting, Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, and the rest of cast preform their roles with such talent they no doubt should be considered Oscar worthy. I found myself caught up in this conclave of clandestine maneuvers of intrigues and investigations. The film is both a great epic about how Conclaves are conducted and a mystery about the late Pope's death, and certain persons, one a Cardinal that may have been defrocked named Cardinal Tremblay, and another Benize, who was made Cardinal in secret by the Pope.  The Cinematography is breathtaking, and ever attention to detail from Latin said casting ballots, to the dining rooms, and what the Curia conducts themselves is sublime, and worthy of an Oscar. There were some moments in the film ...
