Christ Is Risen! We Shall Be Risen!

He is Risen! Our Lord Jesus conquered the grave. Today we celebrate the First fruits and the Culmination and promise that we shall be raised from the dead as He was!  The raising of the body from death is crucial to our faith. Most religions only promise the fate of being a disembodied spirit (state) or higher consciousness, where your spirit and soul are stuck in some plain of existence. The True God tells us that is not how he’ll leave us, that we shall be raised into His likeness with new bodies,  “  But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself , ” (Philippians 3:20-21), “  Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.   In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead wi...

Good Friday: Why Its Good

Most people use the word atonement (reparation for a wrong or injury)  or redemption (the act of saving us from sin) to describe what Jesus did on the cross on Good Friday, and they would be right, but in addition of these He also bore the wrath of God for us, “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” (Romans 5:9), “and to await His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead--Jesus our deliverer from the coming wrath,” (1 Thessalonians 1:10), and “For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). This sheltering us from wrath ties into Propitiation, “He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world,” (1 John 2:2), and “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10). Propitiation means appeasing G...

Holy Thursday (Maunday Thursday)

Today in Holy Week marks when Jesus washed the Disciples’ feet and shared The Last Supper. It was on this day that the Lord Jesus showed His followers they must serve and that The New Covenant had now come in His blood, “When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table.   And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.   For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.   For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”   And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,l and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given/broken for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.,” (Luke 22:14-20) that the Prophet Jeremiah for...

Holy Wednesday

A Woman Anoints the Feet of Jesus by James Tissot. SuperStock / Getty Images Today in Holy Week we commemorate two opposites, one is the event where a woman anointed Jesus’ head and feet at Bethany, “And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head. There were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment wasted like that? For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they scolded her. But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me. She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial. And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the w...

Holy Tuesday (April 12th, 2022)

Today is the day the Parable of the Ten Virgins is commemorated, as well as The Parable of the Talents. I choose to focus on The Parable of the Virgins because of the emphasis on keeping watch and keeping your lamps lit:  “ Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’    But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and ...

Holy Monday: Cleansing of the Temple

Holy Monday is the day we celebrate when our Lord Jesus cleansed the temple, “The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” (John 2:13-16). Most pastors shirk from mentioning the cleansing of the temple, fearing that potential converts may not be keen on Christ wielding a whip. What is missed in this very cathartic moment for us Christians is that Jesus is preparing the temple for His sacrifice, its symbolic of us who are temples of God, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” (1 Corinthians 3:16), that Christ h...

Alert: All Readers Read! Important! The Greek Name of Jesus Comments

Some antichrists posted antichrist teaching against Jesus in comment section of “The Greek Name of Jesus Post.” I sadly did not get notified of this till last night.  My rebuttal against their teachings:  Jesus is not Zeus. Jesus is not Horace/Horus. Zeus became a animal to have sex with a woman, Horace/Horus had a masterbation dominance battle with his brother. Jesus never had sex with anyone!  Jesus is the Lord God Almighty. He is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Trinity who is One God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Jesus comes from Iesus (Latin) from Iesous (Greek) from Yeshua (Hebrew) from Elohe (Aramaic). Its all the same name in the languages throughtout history.  The New Covenant and Fulfillment Theology is the true gospel see Acts 15 when the apostles agreed that only Jesus saves! Not the Law! And Jesus himself declares He is the only Way to be saved (John 3:16-18, John 6:40, John 14:6, John 17:3).  Beware of people who spy your free...

Hosanna in The Bighest

Today was Palm Sunday, which is when Jesus our Lord entered into Jerusalem on a donkey to begin the slavic work He’d accomplish on the cross, and rising from the dead. It is a time when we sing aloud that The Lamb of God came and was slain for our follies. It is a moment when we should raise the palm leaves high and praise Christ who came to die. God came to die so that eternal death would have to claim, that in His Holy Name we would have no shame and tame flesh that hates reins through His reign.  This Palm Sunday I think of the palms pierced for us, and that a similar day will happen when we raise up palms of flesh (hands) to shout “Hosanna in the Highest” as Jesus comes on the clouds! How glorious that all of it is connected like a beautiful tapestry of God’s love and history that unfolded and is unfolding! Let us rejoice that Palm Sunday happened, and that it shall happen once more as we meet our Savior in the sky. Amen

Books for Holy Week

I have two book recommendations for Holy Week. Both are by Timothy Keller, who I call the C. S. Lewis of our times. Keller is an incredible theologian, he delves deep into the truths we believe as Christians and dares to bring up passages often ignored in the mainstream churches.  The first book I recommend is Timothy Keller’s “Jesus the King: Understanding The Life and Death of The Son of God.” In this book Keller gets into fundamentals of our faith and explains The Holy Trinity in the best and easiest way to understand I have ever read! For that alone its worth a read.   Pastor Keller’s books are full of scripture, he never makes a point without substantiating it with Scripture, which makes him a man after my own heart.  The second book I recommend is his book “Hope in Times of Fear: The Resurrection and The Meaning of Easter.”  Pastor Keller goes deep into the Resurrection and what it means for us as Christians, even pointing out that it gets less cove...

Good Friday On Tax Day

This year the day we celebrate our Lord Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins happens to be the traditional Tax Day in the US of April 15th. While the IRS has extended it to April 18th, that does make it also cover Easter (Resurrection Sunday) on April 17th too. Some may cry that this shows disrespect for our faith, that the holiest week in Christianity is Tax Day. That when we should be focusing on our Savior, we have to file tax papers. Well Jesus did tell us to pay our taxes, “And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone’s opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?” But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why put me to the test? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” And they brought one. And he said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Jesus said to them, “Ren...

Pews and Sermons

Church attendance is in decline. The younger generations are called Nones, with no affiliation to any one religion.    While the pews empty, there are Yoga studios a plenty. How is the Church to compete? Well maybe by doing what the Bible says and let ever member participate?: “What then, brothers? When you come together, each one come with a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. For God is not a God of confusion b...
