Say His Name

On religious programs and non-faith based news, I hear a lot of fellow Christians say, “God,” the generic placeholder name for a Higher Power. What is frustrating about this is for one its no witness, if you don’t say Jesus’ name, and use the generic form God, it can be any God. The Israelites use to say clearly and boldly, “The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,” to ensure the correct Lord and Creator gets the credit. Jesus is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob made flesh, and He has told us clearly if we proclaim Him there is a reward, “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven,” (Matthew 10:32), however, there is also a warning for those who deny Him publicly, “but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:33). When people use the generic God, instead of saying Who really healed them or saved them, I worry its that verse.

The Apostle Peter speaks clearly that we are to call on the Name of Jesus Christ, that is invoke Him and ask Him to meet our needs, and relate to us, “let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12). Notice Cephas didn’t say, “God healed him,” or “God saves,” he is clear to say which God, The I AM made flesh, Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

We need to say His Name! Jesus! For He even told us to ask in His Name, “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:14). He didn’t say use the generic name God, He says in “His Name,” Jesus Christ, “The Name above all names!” When every knee bows, it won’t be to a generic name like God, higher power, man upstairs, and etc; it will be to the Name of Jesus, “so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11).

There use to be great songs centered on the Name Above Alls Names. Here is a great one by Third Day called “Who is this King of Glory?”:

“Who is this King of glory that pursues me with His love

And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words

My conscious, a reminder of forgiveness that I need

Who is this King of glory who offers it to me

Who is this King of angels, O blessed Prince of Peace

Revealing things of Heaven and all its mysteries

My spirit's ever longing for His grace in which to stand

Who is this King of glory, Son of God and son of man

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

Who is this King of glory with strength and majesty

And wisdom beyond measure, the gracious King of kings

The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things

He is this King of glory, He's everything to me

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus

The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart

The King of glory

The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things

He is the King of glory, He's everything to me.

Songwriters: Bradley B. C. Avery / David Carr / Johnny Mac Powell / Mark D. Lee / Samuel Tai Anderson.” Amen.

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
