The Holy Bible and the preaching of the Evangelion (Gospel) was always translated into the common tongue. The New Testament was not written in Aramaic or Hebrew, but Koine Greek, the language of all people from Palestine to Palatine Hill Rome. The goal was accessibility to the gospels and the letters of the apostles that contained the Message of Jesus Christ. What is staggering is how when the Bible was translated into Latin by Jerome in 405 A.D., it remained in this language that even the priests could not fully grasp for 1,195 years! It took Luther translating the New Testament into German in 1522 A.D., and William Tyndale translating the Bible into English in 1526 A.D. to break the Scriptures free of the Latin Captivity. Since the Reformation it has been crucial to ensure the Scriptures be translated into native languages so that another Babylonian Captivity does not once again obscure the Alpha and Omega’s Inspired Texts in a dead language like Latin.
It is incredible that for a time it was outlawed to read the Sacred Old and New Testaments in your native tongue. Being caught reading them bore the penalties of torture (the rack, burned with heated tips of iron), excommunication (shunning from all society), and even being burned alive at the stake! To read and own the Holy Bible in your tongue could lead to your torturous death! Now a new Latin is hiding away Scripture, and that is one of lethargy.
We have more access to the Holy Bible than ever before, and yet fewer and fewer people seem to know it or read it! Even ardent Christian brothers and sisters who attend Church services regularly trust a pastor or priest to recite and interpret the Scriptures, often inserting errors the congregants cannot discern because of their biblical self imposed illiteracy. The New Babylonians Captivity is apathy. We have the 66 God breathed Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16), and yet they might as well be for many in Latin do to laziness. How sad, brothers and sisters in the past like Tyndale died to get the Bible to us in our own language, and many just let it sit on the smartphone shelf collecting dust.
A day is coming soon when we will not have easy access to the Scriptures, when the antichrist will ban all religions, “For that day will not come, unless the rebellion (falling away from the faith, Great Apostasy) comes first, and the man of lawlessness (antichrist, beast of the sea) is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes (ban) and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of god, proclaiming himself to be god. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-8), and crush all peoples, “And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation. And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. Anyone who is destined for prison will be taken to prison. Anyone destined to die by the sword will die by the sword. This means that God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently and remain faithful.” (Revelation 13:7-10). In those coming days it will be too late to download it via the app store, in fact you won’t be able to use apps or go to bookstore to purchase a Bible because only the antichrist acolytes will be able to buy and sell, “The Beast (antichrist, man of lawlessness) required everyone (except us Christians, we refuse the blasphemous mark that ensures hellfire, “The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name [666/616].” Revelation 14:11)—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. Wisdom is needed here. Let the one with understanding solve the meaning of the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666 (half of the manuscripts have 616 as the number).” (Revelation 13:16-18) and they will remove copies of the Lord Jesus’ Scriptures.
We have this precious moment to memorize Scripture and commit it to our hearts. For at this time we can study the Aramaic and Greek and find a translation from the King James Bible to The Passion Translation to suite our literary reading level and preference. The Bible Baskin Robbins with 36 flavors (translations, NIV, NLT, ESV, NASB, Message) is before us, but a time will come when the antichrist will suppress the Scriptures and Bibles will become contraband. Let us not waste this moment of unprecedented access to God The Trinity’s written down words! Memorize the New Testament, Matthew to Revelation while there is still time and accessibility. Amen.
