The Truth About Feeding The Poor

In America there is an ambitious desire to help the poor. Churches and humanitarian organizations raise billions of dollars to feed, shelter, cloth, and help the impoverished around the world and at home. This endeavor seems noble, and always comes with the proverbial "awww.." and "God bless you sire and madam..," but is it Biblical? "Well certainly it is! It's the chief command of Christ!" Uh actually no it is not, Jesus said the greatest commandment was, " love the Lord your God with all you are (soul, mind, and strength), this is the greatest commandment, and the second it like it, love your neighbor as yourself ." (Matthew 22:36-40). Our Lord and God then added, " A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples , if you love one another ." (John 13:34-35). Who are our brothers or fellow disciples? Was Jesus talking about the br...

The Last Will Be First

Throughout the Bible we see how God confounds the wise, " For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness " (1 Corinthians 3:19). When The Prophet Samuel was to select the next king of Israel, he went to Jesse's home and all of Jesse's handsome and powerful sons were presented, but the anointing was on none of them, it was David a shepherd boy, whom Jesse did not even bother to present and considered the least in his brood that Samuel anoints (see 1 Samuel 16:1-13). Jesus Christ makes clear why this happened, " So the last (now) will be first, and the first (now) will be last ," (Matthew 20:16), and " But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then ." (Matthew 19:30). This theme of the least being chosen of God is throughout Scripture. It was Esau whom Isaac loved, but Jacob was the one ...

In Need of A Father

The Emperor's Club (2004) The relationship between fathers and their sons have shaped history and our world. The greatest event in human history involves God the Father giving His Son as sacrifice to save us from damnation, " For God so loved the world that He gave his Only Begotten Son, and whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life ." (John 3:16). Fatherhood and sonship is divine, for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is called The Son of God (1 John 4:15) and yet He is One with the Father (John 10:30, John 17:). Perhaps the relationship of God the Trinity is our model, that a Father and Son should be close, but sadly on this fallen world many fathers and sons have desolate relationship. The last words of the Prophet Malachi, and the last words of the Old Testament are these, "He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse ...

Innocence

From the moment we can reason (generally at age 5) we are assaulted with corruptions. Our innocence with each passing year is slowly swallowed up by shadows and the seduction of becoming mature like our teenage siblings or even to be adults. There is a name for the time when all is good, and children are most innocent and happy, this is called the "Wonder Years". During this time boys and girls are not tainted by disbelief, unbelief, sexual perversion, and sadism. While certainly they may be exposed to these things by adults or wicked friends, in general they are liberated from a dark world and allowed to bask in the innocence of their youth. Innocence is precious and yet there is such zeal to shipwreck it as soon as possible. Children are lured into watching horror films before they are ready (I argue we should never have been ready) and slowly the tenderness is torn out of them with each scene of Jaws' teeth tearing as Robert Shaw or the T-Rex devouring Generro on ...

Autumn Ardor

The Seasons are reasons to rejoice. Each part of the year has its own allure. Spring has blooming flowers and green hills, Summer bright sunrises and wealthier that warrants getting into the sea. Then there is Autumn which assaults the senses with spices, a riot of color, and the harvest. Pumpkins deck many decks, and the leaves fall in their brown, gold, and orange folds to paint the canvas of our world. The beauty of Fall is that everything is ripe, the colors, scents, and even food is bursting and even assailing us. Sadly, this season is marred by the dark arts. The tradition and holiday Halloween has cloaked this spirited season in shadow. This time of year really is meant to be one of celebration and rest, the reaping and the relaxation, " Speak to the sons of Israel, saying , 'In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation ." (Leviticus 23:24). It is also a time of giving, even before Th...

More Than Conquerors

In this world it can be tempting to get involved in conflicts. We become rattled and want revenge on another person for their wicked behavior, but we must remember that our war is not against flesh and blood. The people of this earth are motivated by only two sources, The Lord God (Trinity) or the lord of the flies (Satan) and his legions of darkness. The true threat is not your coworker, but the cosmic forces motivating their thinking which in turn creates actions. The Apostle Paul said, " For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places ." (Ephesians 6:12). There are fallen angels (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 12:9) who wage war against mankind, who have even polluted the human race in days since past (Genesis 6:4-6), and they have offspring that disembodied spirits that had bodies and were called Nephilim or giants (...

The Nerve of Necolatians: The Cults of the Deeper Knowledge, Spirituality, and Mysteries Examined

Judas Iscariot, Son of Perdition Many brothers and sisters in Christ become unnerved by Christ's words, " So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth ." (Revelation 3:16). The fear of being counted among the 'lukewarm' can make believer do brash things. Many become entangled in asceticism, mysticism, and other devotio to prove to Christ they are devout disciple who will carry their cross (Luke 9:23). But it might surprise many that Jesus is not speaking to Christians, but rather heretical nay apostate paradoxical person. The key to understand the lukewarm verse is this, " But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate ." (Revelation 23:6). Who are Nicolaitans? Well they were followers of a man named Nicholas or Nicholae who practiced Christianity and Satanism; Christian devotion and occultisms. Nicholas and his followers was endeavoring to serve both the Princ...

Crucifix or Cross?

There is much debate about what symbol of use in a Church, even in homes. The Crucifix, Christ fixed the cross during His Passion is popular in Roman Catholic churches, and some Protestant denominations such as the Lutheran Churches. The question of why many Protestants refuse to use the crucifix, and why some do use it is a matter of perspective and spiritual discernment. The Protestants who protest the use of the Crucifix claim that it is a "symbol of death, it does not depict the Risen Christ ( Ressurectixi Christi ) but the Dead Christ ( Corpus Christi ) and this develops a morbid feeling in the viewer, while the plain cross is the symbol of both Christ's Passion and Resurrection, and emphasizes "He is not here, He is Risen." Another reason many Reformed Christians reject the Crucifix is because of its connections to the Roman Catholic Church. The Crucifix was first implemented  en masse by St. Bernard of Clairvaux in the 12th Century. Bernard was a zealous ...
