"It's Beginning to Look A-Lot Like Christmas."

It sure is beginning to look like Christmas! I once was a critic that scorned having Christmas décor and designs out before Thanksgiving. However, I have converted! Christmas has always been my favorite time of year and now I am celebrating it early! In fact, I am not alone in my precelebrations. Two friends of mine have already started decorating and one of them is already listening to Xmas music. I even found complete strangers at my local Target looking for trees and ignoring the discounted Halloween and Harvest items. I think the reason people are "decking the halls" early has to do with the times we live in. The world is growing darker and people are under such stress to pay their debts. Under the gloom of high deficient and failing economy, people want an escape. They want some light and wonder in their lives.

Christmas certainly has an allure. The Spirit of the Season falls on you and you can't help but be swept away. For myself the holiday is a combination of Christ's Birthday and the Merry Traditions that have come to be staples. I think what makes Christmas a most blissful time of year is that is endorses all the virtues. It compels people to be a little nicer; to aspire to joy, and to seek peace with each other. All attributes of Jesus Christ himself. There is something about the flickering fire of the hearth, the glistening glow of the tree lights, and the mystery of the presents given by those we love that makes the entire holiday like a slice of heaven on Earth!

Christmas is a time when people can really display their own individual taste. There are plethora of different décor designs that you can "deck your halls" with. With the help of Pier 1, I would like to look at these distinctly different styles that people deck their houses with. Let us examinea very popular décor that gets it's inspiration from the most presitigious of Christmas candy, Candy Canes.

Pier 1 Imports, All Rights Reserved.
The "Peppermint Playland" is whimsical design that incoperates the swirls of peppermint candy, in specific Candy Canes. The traditional colors of peppermint which are red and white are mixed with other vibrant colors such as pink and blue. This décor brings a sense of traditionalism and magic together. It is the perfect bridge between those decorators who want a homey feel and something that transports you to the time of year and the spirit of the holiday.

If Candy Canes and Peppermint Palaces aren't your thing, there is "Echanted Elegence" design.

"Enchanted Elegence" incporerates a naturalism of flowery bouquets and golden hues. This style bridges minimalism with an earthy feel. This décor make the outside feel transported inside only with greater sophistication. There are not messy needles or dreary dying daises; only beautiful arrangements of roses, pine cones, and pleasant plant life. The golden lights illuminate like lightning bugs in the forest and give an almost druid feel.

Perhaps appearing elegant and refined is not your forte. Maybe you want a more rugged and rural feel; mountain man design for your cozy cottage. If so, then "Woodland Wonderland" might be your desire.

"Woodland Wonderland" is like "Enchanted Elegance" in that is creates connection to the natural world; but goes further by adding deer and other creatures of the woodland. This style brings those cute critters that few cannot love into your home to stay for the wintry nights. Owls abound, porcupines peep through the pine, and deer dance on tables. "Woodland Wonderland" combines the whimsical with the earthy style. One feels transfixed in the wild and at same time in a comfortable lodging.

"Silver Snowfall" is combination of two very popular decorating designs. One is white snowflakes and even evergreen trees touched by snowfall. The other is silver, which tries to capture the snowfall with an elegance. "Silver Snowfall" combines elegance with a White Christmas. Some European themes and motifs such as Eiffel Tower are added to convey settings that capture romantic notions of Christmas Time in foreign lands.

Pier 1 Imports, All Rights Revered.

"Holiday Grandeur" is the most opulent style of decorating. The golds, reds, and whites create a regal and heavenly look. Angels abound and Nativities even lay nearby alluding to the true spirit of Christ-mas. "Holiday Grandeur" is for the king and queen in all of us. It is resurgence of Byzantine décor that reminds us of times when people were surrounded by golden icons. "Golden Grandeur" is a direct departure from "Silver Snowfall" and one that sure to bring the most warmth and sparkle to any home.

Pier 1 Imports, All Rights Reserved.

If none of the style so far presented capture your fancy or maybe you are tired of traditionalism; then "Global Gems" is the Christmas décor for you. "Global Gems" takes inspiration from other cultures around the world and implements them in the style. You can see peacocks and butterflies in the tree which are often feature in Asian design. This style if for those who are looking to stand out and create a conversation piece. There is nothing conventional about the color scheme or the creatures. If reds and greens or white do no appeal, then maybe this is the design for you.

Do you find yourself drawn to elves and the folklore of Santa Claus? Do you wish you could recreate Santa's Little Workshop in your very own home? Then "Woodland Wonderland Whimsy" is the style for you. This style bridges the woodland with the peppermint look. You can Chris Cringle's collection of toys and other workshop wonders on the tree. This design is bound to bring out the child inside of us.

There are many other decorating designs for Christmas that I have not included. Some people mix "Silver Snowfall" with "Holiday Grandeur" or bridge "Woodland Wonderland" with "Global Gems." The great thing about this time of year is that there are no limits to your creativity! I myself delight in seeing the different designs inside and out. Each captures a piece of majestic and magnificent magic of the season!

So do not be ashamed to get into the Christmas Spirit early! In world full of Scrooges, we need all the laughter and cheer we can find to combat coldness around us. So "Merry Christmas!" in November.

Israel’s Conquest of Canaan: The Nephilim and Giants

Christianity Today asserts that the conquest of Canaan can be a “stumbling block” for believers. This probably is because of a foolish idea of comparing it to a modern conquest happening in our world. The truth is that God had Israel conquer Canaan because it was ruled by evil giants, “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:33). These are Anakim or Nephilim, the children of angels and human women, “When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God (angels) saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. The...

Dispensationalism

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) was a man who did two things, he took 70th week of the Book of Daniel and stretched out to the End Times, and he was the father of  Dispensationalism , a belief system that God dispenses different peoples with separate blessings and covenants. According to Darb'ys doctrine of Dispensationalism, God dispenses different covenants. There are total of seven dispensations that divide the history of man: I. Dispensation of Innocence (prior to the Fall, "Do not east of the Fruit of Good and Eve, Eden), II. Dispensation of Conscience ( You must assuage guilt and sin with blood sacrifices.) III. Dispensation of Human Government (Multiply and Subdue the world, example the Tower of Babel Gen 11:1-9, and Genesis 1:28). IV. Dispensation of the Promise (Dwell in Canaan, Jerusalem) V. Dispensation of the Law ("Obey the Law of Moses and the Prophets"). VI. Dispensation of Grace (The Church, Jesus Christ has come...

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic! He would have heard his name in this dialect, “Hail Isho or Eesho!” as well as the Greek, Ἰ ησο ῦ ς , Iesous.  Aramaic is disappearing, only a few peop...
