Its staggering how similar America is becoming to the Ancient Rome Empire. Last night I was watching FOX NEWS and I was appalled by the obession of over the Casey Anthony Case. Women and men flocked to courtroom. pushing and shoving, they were driven like mad bulls. They cry "kill her! Kill her!" This sound quite like the Roman Collisiums when spectators demanded the death of a gladiator. What has become of our country? That people thrist for the blood of others? That they cry like the mulitudes did at Pilate's Court "crucify him! crucify him!" Granted, I believe in justice. If this woman did indeed slay her own daughter, she deserves the death sentence. However, we don't need to cheer and celebrate her demise. For the LORD warns "Beware that you do not celebrate or revel in fall of your enemies, lest the God turn his wrath from them unto you."
Then we have the politcal scandals. Recently Rep. Sentor Wiener has come forth admitting he had done perverse and vulgar things via texting. He has been checked into rehab and intends to somehow redeem himself. Congressmen and women cry for his resignation. His folly is displayed on every news channel, hee is painted as villan, a man devoid of intergrity. Gretta gave long list of politicans who have been exposed, who have engaged in promiscious activities. These men are depicted as scoundrals, as predators that deserve to be put out of their misery. The double standard is quite amusing, if a man is in politics or the media and falls, he or she is made an example of. His or her every transgression is broadcasted 24/7. Its interesting how celebs and politicians have their reputation crucified on national TV and yet if it was a relative of these journalists I doubt they would inform their producers. Everyman is subseptable to sin, all stumble, all fall. But we make circus, and show out of it all. We generate revenues from other people's pain. Granted I don't condone the actions of men like Wiener, I think such behavior is vile. However, I find broadcasting such folly is equally appalling.
Fear grips our country, just as Rome was opressed by tyrannical Cesar we are opressed by a Principality that seeks to cause us great anxiety. It is ridiculous how afraid Americans are over foods and beverages. Yellow number two dye is now the devil that children mustn't partake of lest something (vague explanation as usual) happen. Yet Christ himself said "Worry not about what you eat or drink, do you think you can add a day to your life by being anxious?"
Like Rome, America has become corrupt. The men on Capital Hill bribe each other, they solicit their agendas and forget the people they are suppose to represent. Its the Roman Forum, the Senate who was appointed to speak for the people, but now exploits the people. How long shall we stand by and let our lives be ruled by nefarious folk? Where have all the good men gone? Even the promising white knights rise but a moment before being waylaid. How long will God honor a nation of greed, avarice, and divination?
We are now almost as old a Rome, 400 years to be exact. We are already beholding the decline of our nation, next comes the fall. It is time that the intercessors pray without ceasing, that priests seek repentance for worshipping Mammon (god of money), and that the saints turn to Elohim instead of greed. The Recokening is neigh, God has already begun to humble the proud and to crumble the idols of Wallstreet. He has given us numerious opportunities to repent, to turn from our wicked ways. Will we still not listen? all the great empires have fallen, will America be next among them?
It's interesting that you say this. I have observed the same. I recently watched a 6 DVD compilation of the Roman empire making a total of about 12 hours of historical documentation. It was striking the resemblance America- and even more of our modern societies- has to the great Empire.
ReplyDeleteGreat observation... and interesting posts. :)
