The Weaponizing of Christianity

As Christians we are going to be involved in politics. How we vote should be guided by our beliefs. That said I am concerned with a trend on all sides of Political Spectrum that is weaponizing Christianity, making our faith or large group of the church so intertwined with political parties and causes that people see no difference, no “separation of church and state.”  This Byzantine bridging of religion and politics makes me worried that the gospel which is for all peoples, Jesus who is the Savior of the World, will be cloaked in politics and thus be unapproachable to people of a different party. This worries me to no end because the call was disciple all people, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19) not just our party line, that there is no distinctions, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Chr...

Serve in Heaven or Reign in Hell

The question each of us must ask ourselves is will you “serve in heaven or reign in hell?” The words come from Paradise Lost and I have paraphrased them on purpose. In this life you must decide, will you take up your cross and wear a crown of thorns, following Christ’s example, “For you have been called for this purpose, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps,  He  who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;    and while being abusively insulted, He did not insult in return; while suffering, He did not threaten, but kept entrusting  Himself  to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls,” (1 Peter 2:21-25) or will you wear the gol...

Beauty is Not Evil

There is a wrongful teaching in churches that “beauty fades, charm does not last.” (Proverbs). This Scripture gets twisted, its meant to be comparison between Godly Women and Seductress, not beauty in general. We are drawn to beautiful things because we were made for Paradise, and what God has made is beautiful. It is said when the Lord made Eve, Adam shouted, “zazazoot! That’s it!” Eve was certainly beautiful.  Does Satan try to seduce with beauty? Yes he can, but even God made Lucifer beautiful when he was good, “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.” (Ezekiel 28), but then Satan corrupted his beauty, “So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor.” (Ezekiel 28:16-18). The issue here is not that beauty destroyed Satan, it mentions he also corrupted his wisdom; what ha...

The Deeds of Darkness

The original Beetlejuice film was a demonic and grotesque purgatory of a film from the mind of Tim Burton who is known for his macabre style. Well it turns out the Beetlejuice Sequel is coming out. I have always felt Tim Burton was in the Occult, his films from The Nightmare Before Christmas to Batman and beyond are conceived from a mind that is in harmony with demented and demonic art style of H. R. Giger who was a professed occultist, knew Alister Crowley, a renowned occultist. H. R. Giger  illustrated the most dangerous spell book in existence, The Necronomicon, the Xenomorph from the Alien films itself being Necronom IV, which means the upcoming Alien Romulus features a creature steeped in occult. Not too long ago The Church of Satan sued the reboot of Sabrine The Teenage Witch for using their design if the Sigil of Satan and altar and won the lawsuit. The popularity of Lucifer, a Paradise Lostesque series that garners sympathy for the devil was a turning point in my humble vie...

The Demonic in Anime

Most anime have demons. Inuyasha is literally about a half breed demon who is a hero who falls in love with a human school girl. Demon Slayer has battling demons but one of main’s has sister who is a demon. Elfin Lied is a girl capable of great carnage with soften horns like a demon. Please Teacher is a Humanoid alien that marries a student, but it reminds me of Genesis 6 romance only in reverse sexes. Anime really popularizes demons and aliens with human love interests, and even more alarming is we are suppose to sympathize with paradox of a good demon. There is no such thing as a good demon or redeemed fallen angel, hell was created for them, “Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Leave Me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels (demons).” (Matthew 25:41). Hell itself was created for the evil angels and their offsprings the demons who were creates by angels having sex with women (Genesis 6:4-12) which is why God flooded the...

Keep It Simple

Been perusing some of the theology and spiritual books at my bookstore, one of them that cautht my attention was “Religionless Christianity” by Eric Metaxas who uses Diedrich Bonehoffer’s model of religionless Christianity. Metaxas makes a case that the church is falling into Pharisee teachings and Satanic religious substitutes & compromises to popular culture. At first his points are compelling as he makes his case that churches in America are compromising a living faith for dead religion. However, he ends up making a war on grace, claiming that “faith without works is dead,” interpreting this in a very Papist Way. He double downs on the need for works even making a case with Bonehoffer’s words that Martin Luther went overboard on grace, and so he ends up pervertIng the true gospel of grace that the apostles agreed is grace not works at The Council of Jerusalem, “Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, acco...

A Quiet Place: Day One

Prequels tend to not be very good. Prometheus was a not well received prequel in the Alien Saga, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins is not one of the better films in that series. One of the problems is that often the prequel removes the mystery, and awe that was established in the films. To quote Wordsworth, “they murder to dissect,” as Solo: A Star Wars Story did to the character of Han Solo; removing the wonder of the line in A New Hope, “It made the Kissel run in twelve parsecs,” by showing it and ruining our imaginations forever.  A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II are seminal horror films. They show us a post apocalyptic world with death angels, aliens, that can cause unbelievable carnage and hunt by sound. The first two films were so seamless and well done, I was uncertain if a prequel that showed Day One in New York City would be a worthy addition, and not feel like a World War Z clone. I am happy to say that A Quiet Place Day One is not only a welcome addition to the ...
