There is something romantic about becoming a pilgrim. The idea of traveling the world and visiting holy sites, and in the process developing a deeper bond with Christ and His Community in all its diversity warms the heart. A great glimpse into this is the film "The Way" directed by Emilio Estevez and starring Martin Sheen , who goes on a pilgrimage in Spain called "The Way of St. James or Camino Santiago Compestela." Even Ridley Scott's flawed "Kingdom of Heaven" shows the crucinatius (crusader)'s pilgrimage to Jerusalem, giving us a glimpse into 12th century Judea. Pilgrimages have profound meaning in different parts of Christendom. For many it is penitential journey for remission of sins, perhaps only to assuage guilt than really seek forgiveness from God who already forgives if we repent (1 John 1:9). Alcohol like anything can serve different purposes. Wine can be used to intoxicate or to indoctrinate. The Fruit of the Vine can lead to Salvation or Damnation. For many Wine is constantly on their minds. It is a vintage that gives them comfort. Others detest the fermented grape juice and call it wicked. It is easy as Christians to categorize and condemn those who do not fit our convictions. The Church is split on the issue of alcohol. On one hand wine is part of the Communion, contained in the Cup where Jesus said, " This is my Blood, poured out for you and the remission of sins, here, take, drink this as often as you remember my death ." (Matthew 26:27-28). Then there is the Bible verse that commands all believers to not, "drink of the fruit of the vine and but don't get drunk." (Ephesians 5:18). We our in the end of days, the Last days, the Apocalypse. The world is in a lawless and chaotic state, prophecised by Jesus Christ our God and His Apostles. The allusion that everything is going to get better is meant to deceive diciples so that they arte not ready to receive the Second Coming of Christ. The brief recovery and restoration of Christendom will be met swiftly with cataclysmic conquering of Christians everywhere by the Antichrist and Man of Lawlessness. The Scriptures tell us, " And the beast was allowed to wage war against God's holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation ." (Revelation 13:7).
