Judgement Day is Not For Christians

One of the greatest stumbling blocks for believers is the fear of judgement, that God will make is face Him as he reads to us our words and deeds. So ingrained in our psyche is this image it can become hard to feel anything but fear before the Lord. The problem is    “what if this fear    Isn’t Real.” (Broken, The Great Divide, Scott Stapp)  The World will face God’s wrath, the unrepentant world that is. For Jesus Christ our Lord is the Judge of Judges, “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” (John 5:22-23). Jesus will judge, so if you so not believe in Him as Lord, Son of God, and Savior the judgement is a certainty. But for us believers the matter is entirely different.  Jesus promises us in His own words:  “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him wh...

All In

This world works hard to supplant our devotion to the Word of God. Everything in it is designed to consume our time. Time that could be spent communing with Christ. We tell ourselves, “we have to,” that we have no choice but to be “in the world,” and make sacrifices. But is that true? Scripture tells us to “count all lost but knowing Christ,” (Philippians 3:8) and tp remain “unstained from the world.” (James 1:27). What excuses are we making to be lukewarm (Revelation 3:16)? How do we justify the cognitive dissonance of our faith that calls us to love the Lord and hate the world and then yet as Christians look exactly like the world?  They call this attitude of taking seriously “not conforming to the world,” (Romans 12:2) radical. As if it is some radical monastic form of Christianity, when it is clear what the nominal churches call radical, is in point of fact Christianity as the Bible declares it. Loving God and hating the world is not some fringe doctrine from one verse o...

Be Careful At Christmas

There are lot of pagan traditions, talismans, and trinkets that make there way into our Christian homes during the holidays. One particular serpent is the Xmas Gnome. Gnomes are spirits of the earth, guardians of treasures, and protectors, i.e. familiar demons. Another is the Nutcracker, which in German tradition is a talisman of good luck and that frightens off evil spirits. Both of these are antichrists, for only Jesus is our protector, “The LORD (Jesus, see Romans 10:9, Philippians 2:10-11) is my protector; he is my strong fortress. My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe.” (Psalm 18:2).  Then there is the holly and wreaths, which is a Roman pagan custom from the Saturnalia, the worship of the Romanite god, Saturn.  We must be vigilant not to allow idols, and pagan amulet dolls into our homes! We are called as the mature Church to count all things lost but knowing Christ! (Philippians 3:8-9, 15) a...
