Do Wish You Didn’t Exist? Help for Despair

I wrote this to another brother in Christ, and I thought it was worth sharing.  A lot of us get overwhelmed by despair. Even in Bunyan’s classic Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian is nearly crushed by the Giant Despair.     If despair is filling you with feelings of wishing to not  exist because of pain and horrible things you’ve endured, take heart that you are actually in good company:  King Solomon felt this way:  “1 Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power, and there was no one to comfort them. 2 And I thought the dead who are already dead more fortunate than the living who are still alive. 3 But better than both is he who has not yet been and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.” - Ecclesiastes 4:1-3,  but then he said after the dark period of the soul: “13 The end of the matter; all has been heard.

Is Jesus Returning in 2022?

People have predicted the Return of Christ since 33 A.D. Even Martin Luther thought it would be in his lifetime. Each year someone seems to predict the return and sell plane tickets to Jerusalem. What is unique about the 2022  predictions is they are by diverse groups such as rabbis, pastors, and even unbelievers like Muslims and secularists; remember the Magi were astrologers and they were lead by the Star of Bethlehem to Jesus’ birth. Usually predictions of Christ’s return are from one person, a minister or pastor, but there are actually a diversity of predictors from rabbis to russian bishop and beyond:    A Rabbi says Jesus will return in 2022: https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.yahoo.com/amphtml/jesus-second-coming-occur-2022-122435086.html Muslim Imam says Jesus will return 2022:  https://www.christiantoday.com/article/muslim.site.predicts.jesus.will.return.in.2022/48878.htm Russian Patriarchate (Top Bishop) says end of human history is soon:  https://www.goog

Queen of Heaven

The Queen of Heaven Cult was one that existed in antiquity. In most kingdoms, there was a mother goddess such as Tammuz, Artemis, Ashteroth, Isis, and etc. She was as the pagans believed a bringing of fertility and life. In some cases she was also a baal, a war goddess, as in the case of Ashteroth and Isis. The Prophet Jeremiah records confronting the Queen of Heaven Cult: “did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of foodand were well off and suffered no harm. 18 But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.”  19 The women added, “When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes impressed with her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?” 20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering hi

Jesus is our Sabbath

The Sabbath is an important day in the week. For the Jew it is Saturday, and for us Christians it is Sunday. Its importance is derived from being a command of God , “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant or livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates.” (Exodus 20:8-11). For Sabbatarians or sabbath keepers this edict of the Almighty is still in effect. In fact there are strict observers of the sabbath like those who accused our Lord Jesus,  “One Sabbath Jesus was passing through the grainfields, and His disciples began to pick the heads of grain as they walked along. So the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” Jesus replied, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? During th

Jesus Will Return in A Physical Body

Jesus came in a physical body the first time, “say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.” (2 John 1:7), He will come again in physical body just as He ascended in s physical body, “After he said this, he was taken upbefore their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11). Jesus ascended bodily: “ 36 While they were describing these events, Jesus Himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”  37 But they were startled and frightened, thinking they had seen a spirit.“Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and

Cults: Identify Theft of God

It can be very harrowing to come out of a cult. A person had a community, a family and then its rendered asunder. Once free from the cult the person wrestles with the distortions, particularly about God and his people. Christian cults are the most damaging, because they use little truths and mix them into big lies.  When a person is set free they become angry, at both God and the community. They cry out, “why God did you let me become deceived?!”  The answer is it was not God, but Satan who deceived you:  “It’s best to acknowledge the atrocities done in the name of Christ and then explain that the reason is simple, Satan hates the name of Christ and will do anything to discredit Christianity and the Bible. It’s like identity theft. If I steal your identity and run up a bunch of bills, you are not responsible for those bills. In the same way evil people hijack the name of Christ to give themselves legitimacy. Their actions are not Christian. That is why it is so important for Ch
