The Terrible Truth About Video Games



I have discovered some very depressing and disturbing news. Having delved into some of the origins of famous Video Game franchises and their inspiration for characters I have uncovered an underworld of Satanic and Pagan influence.   I learned a month ago that Bowser, the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. Series gets his name from the Japanese which means: 大魔王クッパ Daimaō Kuppa "Great Demon King Koopa." (http://www.mariowiki.com/Bowser).

I learned last week that Zelda comes from a demon too! According to a a researcher, "It's true. The demon Zelda, according to 15th century writings, is the primary object of worship of Bulgarian paganism. Amongst their followers runs the belief that, by destroying innocent souls by concealed means, (such as videogames?!), Zelda will rise not only above Satan, but also above God himself.." Delving further into other characters that are famous in gaming I've discovered more demonic and devilish connections. Sonic the Hedgehog gets his power from rings and those rings and emeralds are bequeathed by the Ancient Walkers who are African-like gods!(http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Ancient_Walkers). In addition the character Tails from the Sonic The Hedgehog Series has two tails because in Japan two tailed animals are demons! (just check out Inuyasha and you'll know this to be true.)

Not just Nintendo is delving paganism. Masterchief/John 117's armor is MJOLINER, which was the armor of the Norse god Thor. Also in Halo Universe the enemy collective of aliens players are taught to kill and hate is The Covenant which uses religious titles and terms from all three monotheistic faiths like "prophet" "deacon" "faith" and "sermon". The Human Race represented by the military corps called UNSC (United Nations Space Corps) uses only Greek and Norse titles for their ships, armor, and weaponry. While this is common in the military today, the characters in UNSC are very humanistic and rely only on their own strength, intelligence, and act very atheistic. In fact in one novelization of Halo: Combat Evolved, a character says, "I remember the Proverbs in the Bible, no! I must seek strength in my self alone!"  
Much that you find in gaming has some connection to a false deity or devil from past cultures. It's as if Nintendo, Sega, and other companies have devised ways to subtly incorporate these paganistic and Satanic themes and references in a way that seduces and sways young people. As a child and teen I was obsessed with both Sonic The Hedgehog and Masterchief. Know I've learned that Sonic gets his power from pagan African gods and Yoshi is derived and inspired by a demon creature in a video game about the Devil! I remember Pokémon being a big hit with kids and it turns out many of the creatures are based on Japanese spirits and demons!
It is clear that gaming companies are desensitizing our youth. They started with Yoshis and Pickachus, but now if you take a look at the titles coming out today the characters are more transparently malevolent. Zombies and demonic creatures abound. Every cover of the latest game has darkness and disturbed anti-hero and monster. Look at games like Dark Souls, The Darkness, Dead Space, for example. They all have beasts and spectras that look like they came straight out of hell! (in the case of first person shooter video game DOOM it is out of hell from whence they come). Then take the series Diablo on PC, it is even named after the devil himself and features him as playable character!!!
Video Games have become source for Satan's to seduce our youth. He has exposed us to spirits and demons so that we won't be disturbed by them. He has desensitized us, so that when we see an alien or demon manifestation we will pay it no heed and think of our favorite character rather than a spiritual threat. 
I feel gravely concerned over the ties major franchises have with pagan gods and demonic spirits. I know two people who helped create Dungeons & Dragons and other RPG video games. They were in the Occult and they said they made games like D&D and others to seduce people and familiarize them with Satan. These two people I know have since left the industry for twenty plus years and are devout Christians. But they describe the goal and purpose of those who started major gaming franchises and are not blind to the undertones that pervade games now.
We need to be very cautious and call upon Christ to guide us through the difficult and dangerous road of video games. I can't make a call for you all to abandoned your controllers and cease playing video games. Many of you are probably still plugged in to your Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2 and PS3. You don't want to see the devils or pay them no heed. Well, I'm convinced that in the long run you will have wasted time and money. Imagine all the hours you've clocked in on your gaming system. What could you have done with them? You could have cultivated opportunities for your life. You could have expanded the Kingdom or used your talents to do something extraordinary. Instead, your plugged into the system and you lose those precious hours. You also lose revenue that could have been used for other purposes. So think about it and ask Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit for discernment. Think carefully about what you are spending your time on. Do you pray? Do you commune with Christ? Do you tend to your obligations? Do you build your relationships? Or has the waves of the game echanted you and the demons with their cute faces beguiled you? Maybe your not addicted, maybe you only play a little here and there. Well, still consider this, neurologists have discovered that prolonged exposure to video games can hardwire the brain to be ADHD and ADD. Isn't it interesting that if you play a game long enough you find your patience wains? That you can't tolerate waiting or interruptions? Yet to seek God requires patience and to hear him requires waiting for that "still voice." 
Visual Entertainment has become key weapon in the devil's arsenal. He uses his oldest skill of music to mesmerize people, he uses movies and TV to put people in a morose trance, and finally via video games he makes people very gullible. Granted not all music, movies, tv, or video games are evil. But Satan has the monopoly on the market and it is clear by how so many are falling away from the faith and turning to darkness that it is having an effect. We as Christians must be vigilant and really weight the cost. We must consider that sacrifices must be made to preserve our souls from the seeds of Satan. 
Press into the presence of the Holy Trinity. Commune with Christ and hang on the Holy Spirit's wisdom. Only with the Almighty's guiding can we navigate a world so overrun with devils.

  3. Tamagon was not a demon. He was just a cute dragon who fought against the devil. The Devil in Devil World was the villain, not the hero.

    You are correct that Tamagon (Who was the inspiration for Yoshi) actually fights the devil in Devil’s World by collecting crosses and Bibles. I need to edit this post and remove it as an example.

  5. Zelda is actually a relatively common female name. Nothing demonic about it. Don't listen to Internet lies. Shigeru Miyamoto explained that he got Zelda's name from F. Scott Fitzgerald's (The Great Gatsby) wife, Zelda Fitzgerald.

Interesting, but you cannot deny that the Triforce which is made of three goddesses of “power,” “wisdom,” and “courage,” (see The Legend of Zelds: Orcarina of Time) is antithetical to our Christian faith in the Holy Triniry of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. While yes adults can filter Zelda as a mythology like Jason and Argonauts, children are impressionable and having a story that has three goddesses tied to their favorite story and characters is hazaradous spiritually. In addition, I argue adults playing stories with pagan beliefs systems are filing their souls with ideas contrary to the Kingdom of Heaven. What we spend time on can and does effect us.

    1. No one in real life is going to worship the goddesses in Zelda. They're fictional deities for fictional worlds.

    2. I never asserted that people would directly worship the goddesses of The Legend of Zelda. But since the Triforce that represents the goddesses is the main symbol of these goddesses in on everything from the game to baseball caps ans more; they are getting attention. The real alarm is that people will be preconditioned to New Age and other beliefs systems contrary to Christian faith through games like Zelda that glorfiy false dieties. It is well known in Japan demons and powers of the sort are represented in games and anime, and Zelda is no different. The supernatural no matter how made up is bases on real beliefs, just as The Force in Star Wars echoes New Age and Occultic sorceries. The issue isn’t will people go and bow down to goddesses in Zelda, its that an affinty is created for them through love of the characters Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. This affinity can penetrate the soul and before long develop into an interest in real curosity of similiar and real practicies seen in the game. At the very least to open a door in the heart to false gods, when it shoukd be guarded, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7), and “We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:5). Indeed, we are obligated as Christians to even “tear down arguments and presumptions against the knowledge of God,” in our entertainments, movies, and video games.

Jesus’ Name in Aramaic

There has been a trend to render Jesus’ name Hebrew, יֵשׁוּעַ , Yeshua. The problem is neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the Jews in 30-33 A.D. spoke Hebrew, they spoke Aramaic. A ramaic is the oldest language on earth and was the language Jesus spoke. In fact, the oldest Old Testament is the Septuagint a Greco translation around 132 B.C.E. (165 Years Before Christ)that was translated from Aramaic. The Masoretic Text, The Hebrew Old Testament most Bibles use, dates from 7th to 10th Century A.D. (Medieval Times).  This translation does not cross reference with the words of Christ in the New Testament which are Aramaic and Koine Greek.  If the Aramaic was what Jesus spoke, then by what name would have been called? Jesus’ name in Aramaic is Isho or Eesho, spelled ܝܫܘܥ . That is the name of our Lord in Aramaic!
